Chapter 3 The offer

604 Words
I thought about a plan throughout the night. I drive back to the estate to sit down and have a discussion with my father, making him hear my side of the story and see sense with this contract, engagement, or investment. It is my life we are talking about—my entire life. Victor’s jaw strained. You’re a woman, Alina. You’re brilliant, yes. But business is war. And in war, you shoot what you must to win Alina stood still with heart. Then you have lost Father. The butler entered. Mr. Draven is here. The name sent a bite down my spine. Alina turned, determined to face him on her own terms. She walked into the hall where he stood.Rafael Draven is handsome and composed; his custom-adapted black suit makes him more threatening than the brand. His eyes met hers, and he smiled like a man who always got what he wanted. Miss Cortez He said coolly, stepping forward. Or should I say investment? "Mr. Draven," Alina said, lips entwining in defiance. You should know I am not a commodity; I’m not for trade.” He looked her over, slowly, like a mystification he was formerly working on. That’s what makes you special. She crossed her arms. And what makes you think I’d agree to this ridiculous arrangement? He leaned in, voice low. Because you love your father, and his company is drowning. I’m the only one with a lifeline. Take it, or let him drown. Mr. Draven let us sit down and talk. I believe we are grown-ups and can decide on our spouse. I believe you're not interested in this marriage. What if I am? Rafael said, and fear crept into my soul. This ruthless man—I can't see a future between us. You are joking, right? I said, What can I do to stop this marriage? I ask him, "Tell your father right now and in my presence that you're not interested, and the deal will be off. I can't; it will kill my father." So, it seems that there is no way out. Let me make an offer. Alina said, "Give me six months to revive the company. If I can't revive the company, let's go with the agreement. Is it a deal?" Let’s make it indeed. If within these six months you can't revive the company, I will make a public apology to you and get married. I will do everything you tell me to agree.I believe you are a man of your word, ok? I have to travel frequently within these six months, so we can say I have international business to attend to after it. Once it's over, we will settle down, and hopefully you will have revived the company, so it's a deal, right? I ask Alina to lead me to her father’s office. She was scared and kept reminding me to stick to the plan. You can feel that she doesn’t want to disappoint her daddy, and she doesn’t want this marriage. In my heart, I feel that she is not attracted to my charms. No woman has ever turned me down; this is strange, I told myself. After coming out from the office, Alina offered to see me to my car. How did it go? Calm down; it settled. Your father will no longer disturb. I am waiting to be impressed by you reviving the company within these six months.Getting to my room, my heart calmed down a bit. Alina You have to pull through your six months, six whole months, and I must use it to my advantage; every stone will be left unturned.
