A sharp flick to her forehead snapped Raina out of her thoughts. She hadn't realized she'd spaced out again.
Craig's cold gaze lingered on her as he lowered his eyes, his voice sharp and disapproving. 'Why does she keep lying to herself, coming up with excuse after excuse?' He asked again, "Still thinking of ways to fool me?"
"If you already know, then... if I tell you the truth, will you get mad?" Raina tested him, her eyes bright and hopeful, like a curious puppy. It was endearing enough to melt Craig's heart.
Craig put on a serious face. "That depends on what you've been hiding. Small things, maybe I can overlook. But big things..."
He leaned closer, raising her chin slightly with his hand. His voice lowered, dangerous. "Do you think you should get off easy?"
