"Gracelyn? Gracelyn?!" Empress snaps as she draws me out of my thoughts. I looked at her with the same facial expression that I give everyone. "I'm fine" was the first thing that came out of my mouth. It's what always comes out of my mouth when someone asks me about what happened or if they ask me if I'm okay. I can feel the tension in the air as we pull up to Grandwood High School. We found a parking spot. Of course, it's in the back of the parking lot where everyone can just stare. I got out of the car and shut the car door. I watched as everyone in the parking lot watched me and Empress walk into the school building. Everyone was whispering as if I couldn't hear them. My heart was pounding. I walked to my new locker. It was right outside of the office, of course. I pulled out my locker combination and began twisting the black nob that had numbers around it. I then pushed up the thin metal piece connected to the locker and pulled it. Jammed. Great, I have a shitty locker. I tried it two more times. Still wouldn't open. I decided to walk into the office. I opened the office door. I then walked straight against a wall and fell straight to the ground. Well, it seemed like a wall but it wasn't. It was a tall guy. He was built. He was wearing all black and had rings on his fingers. He turned around and took his glasses off. He had an eyebrow ring and a nose ring. I sighed loudly and stood up. "Sorry about that. My first day here and I am already embarrassing myself." I said with a slight chuckle to lighten the mood. "Your fine" is what he said as I watched him read me. His eyebrows squinted and he smiled. "I'm Nathaniel." He said as his crystal blue eyes stared into my hazel-green eyes. "Um right I-I'm Gracelyn. Gr-Gracelyn Davis." f**k I'm stuttering. "Nice to meet you Gracelyn." He said in a sweet but rough tone. "You too, Nathaniel." I said and he chuckled. "Call me Nathan, It's better to remember." He said as he looked me up and down. "I like Nathaniel more." He chuckled at my remark. "Well I should get to class, and so should you Gracelyn." He said. I smiled and walked right past him to the front desk. "Hi, Mrs.Brooks. I was wondering if someone could help me with my locker? It's jammed." I said and she smiled. "Of course, Gracelyn." She said and she stood up and walked over and gave me a hug. "How are you doing baby?" She asked as she hugged me tightly. "I'm fine." I said and she released me and I smiled at her. "You know you can always come down and talk to me all you want." She said trying to be reassuring. "I know." I said and tried to smile bigger. "What happened was not your fault, You know that right?" She asked. I wanted to say No but I said "Yeah I know that." I could see Nathaniel in the corner of my eye staring and listening to what we were talking about. "Anyways Baby, your locker is locker 1792. Okay, and they still put the old code on there. We changed the lockers this year because of the nonsense that happened last year." She said as the printer went off. She smiled and grabbed the paper. "Here you go honey," she said. I looked at the paper and it had all of my classes on it, including my new locker combination. I smiled and said thank you and she wrote me a pass to class. I turned around and Nathaniel was nowhere to be found. I sighed and headed to my locker before going to class. Could this day get any worse?
