School was finally out for the day. I sigh sitting on the bus on the way to the pack house which will take abput half an hour. I took this time to straighten up my things since they got all disorganized from crashing into Romin. I'm still gonna have to deal with whatever consequence he desides for me. It will most likely be a chore of some sort.
I sighed loudly this time remembering that Mr. Hans read someone else's draft, not mine.It was rare for anyone to do better than me and now I will have to score even hogher to ace the final exam.I will have a month to finish it. The due date landing on the day before my 18th birthday. I have to work twice as hard in school if I want to go to college. I will need a scholarship as my father doesn't get paid as much as the other workers. The Alpha says it's because we are a specialty case and we must earn out place in the pack. before getting any hand outs. I don't hate Alpha Caleb for it tho. If anything I revear him. He allowed a rouge from a rival clan into his home and under his protection. I will always be greatful for that.
Lost in tought I find a poem that wasn't mine amomg my papers. I couldn't reccognize the hand writting tho it did seem familiar at the same time. There was no name on the paper and the writting style reminded me of the draft the English teacher picked today. I flip the page to find the initials R.A. I paused shocked. Could it be a poem of Romin's?
The bus comes to a quick halt. We made it to the pack house. I shove the poem back into my things and rush off the bus to start my evening duities. Today was laundry day since it was friday. Friday was my easiest chore day but due to the day I had i doubt I will have any time for anything. I still have to talk to Romin about my punishment.
Before I know it, the clock stricks midnight as i put the last basket of clean laundry infront of Amanda's door. Amanda is in a beta level family as well tho she is a couple years older than Romin. They used to date before she turned 18 and got her wolf. I never learned why they broke up but I know it had to be relates.
I make my way to Romins door and knock. A few minutes pass and the door squeeks open. A sleepy half naked Romin stood before me. His dark black hair was a mess.
"What time is it?" Roman asked in a ragged tone still half asleep while leaning on the doorfram of his open bedroom suit.
"Midnight sir" I reply keep my head lowered but still able to look up at him through my red curls.
"You do know how to make a man wait. Get in." Romin growled as he rubbed his eyes while streching and taking a step aeay from the door. He was topless but wearing large black basketball shorts. His muscles flexed as he moved and I couldn't look away. I was mesmerized.
Realizing I hadn't moved yet a start to take a step forward when Romin grabs my wrist and starts to drag me inside. Once inside he practically slamd the door behind us making me lose balance again. This time I land on his chest.
Romin's growl deepens though I didnt believe it could and he pulls me off of him, into the air, before slamming me into a chair. His strength was on par with an Alpha. Lifting me like I was a simple bag of trash that needed to get taken out.
" I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean for that to happen. I promise I would never touch you." I hastily begin apologizing Romin lets out a loud sigh in reply.
" I don't want to hear your apologies Carrot Top. First things first. Do you happen to have a paper or two of mine?" Romin said with squinted eyes. It felt like his glare was gonna burn straight through me.
"Um, maybe sir. I found a poem in my things earlier" I say practically a wisper. Good thing werewolves had good hearing because I definitely didn't have the ability to reply any louder. My body felt like it was on fire from his gaze drying my throat and making my skin crawl.
"What else would I be talking about? Where is it?" His tone got even darker. What was he worried about. The poem he wrote was amazing. I was surprised to find out it was him. Romin was a jock after all. Head of football team. Poetry was far from his special intrests.
"Answer Me!" Romin now shouted.
"It's, it's with me school stuff at my house. Would you like me to go get it?" I say as my words get stuck in my throat.
" I promise not to tell anyone you wrote it as well. I swear on the pack!" I say after a moment of no reply while holding my right hand over my heart. This was a common custom among werewolves. Our pack is our everything.
Romin replies with a heavy sigh while dropping his head into his hands. He rubbed his forhead for a moment before speaking.
"No you will bring it to me first thing after your morning duties is that clear? Also you have no right to swear on a pack when you aren't even apart of one" He looked back up with now dark blue eyes. Darkening eyes is always a sign that one is closer to their wolf and could shift at any moment. I then pull my legs to my chest trying to make myself as small as possible. I know I wasn't born an Ash pack member but that didn't negate from taking me and my father in 17 years ago. Realizing they really didnt see us as pack members cut like a knife. I knew we were outsiders but to hear it out loud was painful.
"As for the shoes you will take them with you. I expect them to be clean and at my door with the poem after your morning dueties. If not the next punishment will be even more severe. Now get out of my sight!" Romin growled pointting at the shoes sitting right next to the door. His muscles shimmering in the moonlight from his window. I don't hesitate grabbing the shoes and rushing out of his room as tears fulled my eyes. I didn't want him to see me cry. It's been a while since a pack member had made me feel so alone and unwanted.
I rush home as quickly and as quitly as possible to not wake others, including my father as I walke threw our shabby home. It had only one bedroom and one bathroom. The only light being the fireplace I slept on the couch. Water dripped from the ceiling into tin buckets threwout.
I start to clean the shoes only to have to stop due to my stomach growling in protest. I realize I haven't eaten since breakfast. I grab a slice of stale bread before heading back to cleaning only to find Minx my calico cat had spilled my paint from the mantel onto Romin's shoes! I rush to thow them in water hoping the different colord paints didnt stain but sadly the paint wasn't budging. I was gonna really be in trouble this time. I deside to just head to bed and deal with my mishap tomorrow morning. Lack of rest wasn't gonna stop Romin's rage and he did warn that he would punish me rougher if I made a mistake. Laying down on our tattered couch Minx cuddles up behind my bent legs as we both drift off to sleep.
