Love and Betrayal

Chapter 3 and 4

CHAPTER 3

“What do you mean you want to break up?” Anna asked him again, shocked. It was really surprising he would want to ask for a break up because in her mind he was here to care for her as he always does..

She knew how much he loved her or let's say used to so she wasn't expecting it at all.

“Why are you surprised I want to break up, isn't that what you've always wanted, or you still think I'll still have feelings for you with all these s**t you've been doing”

he asked menacingly that even made Anna shiver at his voice.

She was about to agree with him when all the memories of them all came flooding back. She might have wanted to be with Drake but she knew deep down in her that she was just bluffing about wanting to break up with Jayden, it's impossible for her.

No one could ever understand her like he did , and his presence always has a somewhat way it soothes her.

“I don't know what you're saying, but I'm not breaking up with you, at least I get to choose when I want to end this, not you “

she said, even though her heart was beating very fast because she knows he's not joking about what he just said and she knows how dangerous he might be when dealing with someone he's not in love with. He's only a fool for love.

He chuckled darkly and moved closer to her slowly and she moved backwards in fear which made him stop midway and he whispered to her ,

“You're being delusional” , walked back into his car and drove off.

LATER THAT NIGHT

The apartment door creaked open , and Anna walked in tirelessly while Kyla looked up from her laptop staring at her angrily.

“Where have you been all day?” Kyla asked her with a sharp voice, clearly indicating that she's been waiting for her all day .

Anna moved closer to her with a pout “ I'm really sorry baby, I didn't mean to keep you waiting, something just came up that I had to take care of.

“Something must always come up with you,” Kyla retorted back angrily.

“You told me you'll be gone for just an hour. One. I waited the entire day, I had to cover up for you when the manager asked of you while you were busy frolicking with ur thug boy “

Anna rolled her eyes and sighed, “Snoop isn’t a thug. He’s just… rough around the edges somehow “ she replied, taking off her dress.

“Rough?” Kyla’s voice scoffed at her “I'm not even sure he's educated and besides you know the amount of people that talk about this guy in a bad way.

“Well , that's their problem “Anna muttered to her “ he loves me and that what matters”

Kyla bursted into a mocking laughter “ The most stupid delusion you've ever had is thinking that This guy is in love with you, you know his ex Anna , you know how this guy scams everyone around, he's not using his influence in a good way and I still can't see why you're so blind or maybe there is something else to this for real”

she said breathlessly, laying back on her bed to continue whatever she was doing

Anna ignored her and collapsed on her bed after successfully taking off her clothes before collapsing onto her bed.

“Anyway,” she said, picking up her phone from her bag, “I would’ve been home earlier if I hadn’t run into Jayden. He wanted to talk, so I stayed a bit.”

Kyla’s chest tightened instantly with the mention of Jayden, but she did everything not to let it show “what'd he want” she asked her.

Anna smirked at her phone screen without even looking up and said “well the usual, why I've been avoiding him, why drake , how much he misses me and stuff , you know he's quite obsessed with me” she lied to her smiling to herself.

It was like a knife was pierced through Kyla's heart with what she just said. Tears were threatening to spill from her eyes but she forced it back.

“ Kyla what were you even thinking, that he cares about you, that he feels the same way, I've really been delusional lately “ she thought to herself sadly.

“Then why don’t you just break up with him?” she asked, her voice tight “ you clearly don't want this guy anymore Anna , why don't you just break up with him”

Anna giggled lightly, looking back at her friend “ why would I do that, Jayden offers some kind of presence drake can't, i mean I can't let him go just like that, he has his uses and besides you're the one who advised me not to break up with him, remember, she said looking back at her phone.

Kyla scoffed annoyingly and rolled back onto her bed, her face blank. She kept sighing every minute, her mind in a lot of chaos . She heard multiple notifications dinging on her phone and desperate to clear her head , she picked it up to check what it was.

But the moment she read the first message, her blood went cold. Her body went rigid , and tears were coming out of her eyes with her hands trembling.

CHAPTER 4

“Oh my God!” Kyla screamed, jumping to her feet from the bed with her eyes and body shaking.

“What happened?” Anna asked immediately, scared with the way she was reacting. She definitely knew something bad had happened with the way she was reacting.

“It’s Jayden,” Kyla replied, her voice cracking. I saw Bryan’s multiple messages on my phone now and he told me he's been trying to reach you but you weren't replying that Jayden had an accident on his way back home yesterday and it's kinda much , she replied crouching down sobbing.

Anna froze ,shocked by two things. The fact that Jayden had an accident all of a sudden and her friend's reaction. “But we saw yesterday and……. Ooh she muttered pacing up and down i just hope he's okay “ she said her body restless as well.

“We need to go see him now.” Kyla cut in, her body restless and unsettled. “Bryan has already told me the address of the hospital and you and I know he's alone, Anna. He’s got no one else but us.”

“Okay,” Anna nodded swiftly, making her way to her wardrobe when Kyla stared at her , frowning.

“What are you doing?” she asked

“Changing, of course,” She replied not bothering to look back “ I can't go out in this type of dress, it's off” she said taking it off

Kyla stared at her, not believing that she could care about her outfit at the moment

“Anna, are you being serious right now? Jayden is in the hospital and you’re worried about your outfit?? Are you going on a f*****g date? You're going to check on someone for crying out loud, she lamented.

Anna rolled her eyes at her “it's just for few, I'll be done now” she replied when she got a notification on her phone her eyes darted between the text and at Kyla until she finally noticed her starting .

“ Why are you staring at me like that? I should come and help you with your clothes? She asked her.

Anna hesitated before answering her “ I don't think I'll be able to follow you again, she replied, her voice low.

“Drake just texted me now that he wants me to come over and you know how aggressive he can be if I defy him” she muttered biting her lips.

Kyla’s scoffed unable to believe what she had just said “You mean you're going to ditch your boyfriend in the hospital for some d***k ?” She asked annoyingly.

“Stop being dramatic Kyla," she said, “ I just told you the reason now and besides you're already on your way to aren't you” she retorted back angrily.

Kyla just sighed and picked up her bag without sparing her another glance, she darted out of the house hurriedly.

Flashback (The Accident)

After walking away from Anna earlier in the day, Jayden had gone back to the restaurant where they all both work together. He did the day's work and when it was time for him to head home ,he decided to walk because he wanted to clear his head and besides he likes the night breeze.

As he emerged out of the restaurant, he had already noticed someone following him but he decided to act oblivious and continued his walk.

He decided to lure the person to an alley where he made sure no one would be watching, cus he wouldn't want to create a scene. And after luring him there successfully, he turned back on the person and pounced on him immediately.

The man's lips bled and he took out a knife from his pocket “They have already told me you're a strong one” he said chuckling.

“And you still had the gut to come” he let out a sinister smile, “ so what sent someone after me this time? My dad, the Lawson's, or my uncle” he asked the man

“ I'm not here to answer questions” the man replied, running towards him at once to stab him but he dodged it effortlessly.

He kept throwing the knife at him professionally, but Jayden dodged all of them effortlessly and when he noticed that he had exhausted all his energy he decided to fight back and after a few minutes, the man was already laying on the floor with all parts of his body dislocated.

He just dusted his body and walked away whistling like nothing happened and after getting to the cross to his house, he was already in the middle of the road when he saw a speeding light and the next thing, he was thrown across the street and he passed out immediately.

PRESENT

Kyla bursted into his ward like she is being chased by a ghost. She was about to rush to him when he noticed people there with him. The guy that called her and most of the people he talks to at the restaurant so she just decided to compose herself a little, though it didn't hide how much worried she was

“How is he?” she asked them as she moved closer to where he was. He had an oxygen connected to his mouth and his whole head was bandaged and Kyla bursted into tears immediately

“How….how could this happen to you” she said sobbing asking no one in particular as she moved closer to him

The guy that had called her earlier came closer to her and patted her back “He'll be fine, you know how strong he is , i knew he and Anna had issues so I just decided to call you when she didn't pick “ he told her signalling to the other guys to stand up.

“ We'll like to be on our way now, we have to get to the restaurant as soon as possible” he told her and she mouthed a “thank you" to them as they went out.

She sat slowly at the edge of his bed, holding his hand gently and caressing it “I really hope you wake up soon, I'm beginning to miss you, your smile, your tease, your jokes, it's fine if you don't want me but pls don't quit on me.

” she said, sobbing really hard while resting her head on his chest. Somehow the slow and peaceful sound of his heartbeat soothed her somehow so she decided to stay there, feeling it until she slept off on his chest.

A few hours later, Jayden's eyes fluttered open, his head banging so loud before taking in his surroundings.

He was confused at first before all the memories came crashing in and he groaned out about standing up when he felt something heavy on his chest.

Looking down he saw Kyla lying down peacefully, her eyelids wet which shows that she's been crying for a while and he felt bad immediately. Ignoring the pain in his hands, he used his fingers to wipe her face , smiling to himself that at least, she was here.

He kept staring and smiling to himself for a while and when he noticed her eyes fluttering open, he quickly went back to his former position like he was still unconscious .

She stirred awake and yawn for like two minutes " I can't believe I slept off"

she muttered scolding herself and stared at him affectionately, " I've tried countless times not to fall for you , but every time I try I fall deeper, she said rubbing her hands on his hair “

I know you don't feel the same way about me, you're in love with Anna which is more of a reason why I shouldn't have fallen for you but I just can't help it, she said staring at him.

Jayden's body stiffened a bit.

I mean he kind of noticed her attitude towards him but admitting it like this, he wasn't prepared for it and he could only smile inside, definitely enjoying her confessions.

It has been one week already that she has been in the hospital. The doctors said he was supposed to have woken up but doesn't know why he's not waking up but he's already out of danger.

Kyla is always there by his side everyday to see him. She would branch briefly before going to work and when she's coming back to cater for him.

Even though Jayden has already been awake all these while he clearly enjoyed the way she treated him and decided to stay in bed more definitely knowing she would distance herself once she's awake.

All this time, Anna didn't decide to call him or even come home. Kyla returned back from work as usual but didn't meet him on the bed and her body froze immediately.

She couldn't move out of the spot and her heart was beating very fast cus she was scared knowing in this type of situation, it only means two things, he's either dead or he has woken up.

"Who are you?" She heard a voice behind her and she turned swiftly immediately and the next thing her body collided with him , hugging him tightly.

She muttered crying, " Thank God you are okay, " I was so scared, I thought something had happened to you, she said breaking the hug and staring at him but she noticed he was only staring at her like a lost puppy .

" Why are you staring at me like that? Are you disappointed you saw me here instead of Anna" she muttered hurtfully.

Jayden wanted to correct her, wanted to tell her no that he was happy seeing her here all this while and his heart breaks with the way she was staring at him. He really wants to correct things but that would only spoil his plan so he'll have no choice but to keep quiet. Kyla tried to touch him but he shifted back,

"I am staring at you because I don't know you, and who the f**k is Anna as well, he said dropping the bomb.
