“Callie, wake up. You’re home.” I heard Morpheus say through a haze.
I didn’t respond, trying to drag myself from the Dawnlands as if I was still intoxicated by the poppies.
“Callie, if you don’t wake up I’m going to carry you to your room.” Morpheus’ voice was tinged with laughter.
I pried my eyes open as I made some response which made both Ally and Morpheus laugh, Warrick remained silent. Dragging myself out of the car, I said goodbye to Ally and Warrick but allowed Morpheus to follow me to my door.
“Goodnight my love.” he whispered to me. “Don’t forget to relay the message that you’re going to my brother’s ball.”
He winked and then walked back to the car, clearly not wanting to run into my father. Apparently fathers with daughters have always been impossible to navigate.
