Chapter 6

1128 Words
Aiden's POV I rushed out of my seat, heart slamming hard in my chest as I stood in front of Isabelle. “ Step back.” I commanded, my eyes were cold and my loud voice cut off the music. Every head snapped to his direction. “ What's happening? Why's the Lycan Prince here?” Marv’s team members began to whisper. The music had been cut off, every eye was on the two men that were next to Isabelle. “ I wasn't doing anything!” The boy yelled in an exasperated tone. The look in my eyes flickered for a bit, looking between Isabelle and Jim but I clearly remembered seeing him approaching her with a menacing look. “ What? Aiden?” Marv called out, walking towards me. I raised a hand, stopping him as I said, “ Stay there!” Marv's eyes were filled with annoyance, his feet tapping the floor while his fingers were shoved into his hair as he scratched violently. “ This is a party! Not a crime scene.” He said in annoyance. Isabelle, who had just been sitting down staring at me suddenly spoke up, “ I think you are overreacting, you haven't even told us what happened yet.” My mind went numb as my eyes lingered on her body, I didn't think twice before I pulled my jacket away and tossed it at her. “ Wear it.” It wasn't a request. She didn't. She hurled it back at me, her eyes filled with fury as she asked slowly, “ Who do you think you are?” Everyone in the room collectively gasped, they knew that she had stepped on the wrong foot and Marv strode to her front protectively. “ Brother, what's your reason for all of this?” He asked. This was his manner of diverting attention from her, I didn't want to press on things as I said, “ Who is he?” I didn't bother answering his questions. Marv was quiet. I walked closer to the guy, looking over at him with an intimidating look as I asked, “ Why did you want to attack her?” My words drained all colors from his face, I watched carefully as his eyes darted around in confusion. Then he said slowly, “ I could never.” His teammates, seeing the commotion, walked closer and something about them made my wolf howl violently within me. He was explaining nervously, waving his hands around, “ She looked so beautiful…” Micah cursed him in my head, “ Bastard! Take your eyes off our mate.” I forced myself to pull away from that, looking at his lips as he said, “ I just wanted to compliment her.” Marv raised his hand, saying with an annoyed tone, “ It was all nothing, after all.” “ No.” I snapped. Marv had enough of me, he stepped forward as he said with an irritated tone, “ Brother, if you want to suspect and see people with suspicion then go to the council.” Other people began to speak up, “ This is a party.” “ Exactly, it's not uncommon to have a guy strike up a conversation with a pretty girl.” “ That's how friends are made.” Isabelle was now sitting with an embarrassed look on her face, her hands were folded neatly on her tightly knitted legs are she mumbled quietly to Marv, “ I think I should go, it's already late.” “ No!” Marv said quietly, his eyes meeting mine. I seemed to understand what he meant, he wanted me gone. “ Aiden, you are ruining the fun. Please leave.” He said. I found it laughable that Marv would be throwing me out of a party, unlike their expectations, i didn't pack up and leave. “ There would be a curfew. All of you leave.” I said calmly. I glared at the team that he had played against, Marv was about to speak up again but my glare froze him in place. I watched as they all left, there was hostility in their eyes. And Marv, he stood by the door with his hands pressed nervously by his side as he apologized over and over again. After they left, I faced my pack members and announced in an alarming tone, “ Henceforth, there would be a 7pm curfew.” My words were disrupted by their chatters and murmurs, my icy look swept over them and their mouth went shut. “ Those who don't follow it, would be punished a according to the law book.” I said. With that they all left for their different homes while Isabelle and Marv got into my car. The car is awfully quiet: Isabelle sits at the back, staring blankly at the view outside the window and Marv sits with a stormy look on his face. He was pissed,I could tell but I was doing it for his good. My eyes kept on going back to review mirror, my mind flashing back to the events at the party. “ Maybe, I was rash.” I thought. Micah growled within me, filled with unrest. “ Or maybe, that wasn't the best way to handle it.” I couldn't still piece together while I had reacted that way, Micah couldn't control himself. “ We are here.” Marv said, bringing my attention back. I looked out, hurriedly stopping the car at Isabelle's house. She opened the door, rushing out as she said with a lighter voice, “ Thank you, Marv. Goodnight.” She didn't turn, didn't say a single word to me and I felt the rush of sadness. “ Marv.” I whispered, he didn't talk to me. I just drove towards our house, my eyes flickered to his side but I saw his eyes were shut. Then when we got to the house, I shook him awake softly but the minute his eyes fluttered open, he pushed my hand away, “ Why do you always ruin everything for me?” He didn't wait for me to speak, he continued yelling, "Do you know how embarrassed she was?" "You accused an innocent guy in front of everyone." He laughs, walks closer and pokes me hard on the chest as he asks, “ You want to explain? Tell me, Aiden.” My mouth went open and close, I couldn't as I realized that I had no proof. As he saw my expression, he raised his hand to the air and said, “Exactly, you don't even know!” Marv walks in, leaving me there. My eyes went close, remembering those boys and the way they moved. The way every instinct screamed. Micah whispered, “ They found her.”
