Arriving at school

‘So are you excited for the new school year? We are finally not newcomers anymore! Oh and I'm so curious to see the new ones. Who knows if we get new yummy eye candy today!’ She squeals. I even have the feeling she starts walking faster with every word that leaves her mouth ‘Woo slow done for a moment Allison. It’s just 8 in the morning and you’re already talking about eye candy and such. I just had breakfast, I don't want to vomit yet alright?’ I say laughing and pulling a bit on her arm to slow us down. ‘I know I know! But I'm just excited! And I don't even know why!’ If she didn't have her arm through mine she would probably be jumping up and down. Which made me laugh even more. ‘’Just slow down girl, we have plenty of time today to look at that eye candy, if they will be there. You know we need to guide some of the new students right?’’She looked with her bright blue eyes towards me and her smile went even further up. ‘’Oh yes! Well what are we waiting for then!’’ And before I could respond she started to walk faster again and I just followed her towards the university.

After a fifteen minute walk we reached the bottom of the hill where Fall University was laying on top of. And luckily for use we didn't need to walk up the hill. Even though there were some guys doing it. Some were even running up. Just for fun I guess.. Even though I could do that too, I didn't really like it. So I got into one of the little shuttle buses which were waiting for the students. We were early so we still had a seat in the middle of one of the buses. The bus started to fill up with laughter and greetings but I didn't really care and just looked outside for a bit. Soon the doors closed and we started the drive up the hill. Which would take like 10 minutes. While staring outside I thought I saw something in the distance, a group of brown and black dots which were moving fast, a little too fast if you ask me. Before I could try and make more out of the dots we turned and before I knew it the shuttle bus came to a stop and I was dragged out by Allison. Who of course didn't wait and just started to walk towards the huge gates.This girl and her eye candy I thought while shaking my head a little.

But before I let her drag me away with her I turned around to see if I could spot the dots again. And for a moment I even thought I heard a howl in the distance. But this was just before the next shuttle bus turned around the corner. So it was probably just the engine I heard. ‘’Lucy? Are you coming? Otherwise we will be late’’ Allison suddenly said next to me. ‘’Yes.. Yeah I'm going’’ I mumbled and decided to just follow my friend. I probably need a little more sleep. Yay that’s it. I’m just tired so I start seeing things I reasoned with myself. We followed the rest of the students through the big iron gates. Which always grabs my attention, especially the first couple of weeks. Mostly because of the weird logo in the middle, which consisted of what looked like a wolf, dragon and other magical creatures. Which was not that weird of course. Because this was a university about all the history and legends people wrote in the past. But still it grabbed my attention every single day. The same for the school itself by the way. Do you know the movies about English boarding schools? Well my school looks just like that, big and old. It’s the most beautiful building in our little valley, and if I could I would just stay here 24/7. Too bad there weren't any dorms on the terrain. Which was also a little bit weird if you ask me. Most of the universities had dorms. I even visited some in the surrounding towns to see what university I would go to. And they all had. But our university had just some student homes in our little town and. So most of them came out of town, some would rent a room in one of the homes. Or came out of other cities surrounding our little town.

‘’So how was your summer Lucy?’’ I heard Allison asking me while we walked up the stairs towards the great hall. ‘’It was alright, nothing special. I was mostly at home with my mom. Did some running and just rested a lot. Damir was traveling a lot over the summer. I could tell Mia wasn’t that happy with it. But i just happen i guess.’’ Damir is my adoptive dad and he’s gone a lot. I still don’t know why but he travels a lot for his work. He is some kind of consultant for a large group of people. That’s the only thing he told me about his work. Everytime i try to ask him about it he starts to avoid all the questions. And over time I just stopped asking them. ‘’What about you? Didn't you go to LA with your parents? How was the Sun? I don’t even see a tan. I thought you were so excited about getting it?’’ I asked my best friend. Who suddenly looked a little bit uncomfortable. ‘Um yes.. I did get into the sun.. I’m umm.. Well you know me and my skin. It always stays this pale. I’m not sure why. It’s just me i guess’’ she answered while playing with that weird ancient ring on her fingers. Sometimes I make fun of her and her ring. She’s like the ‘hot’ girl in teen movies with blond hair and a good figure. But still wears this weird ring which does not match with her outfits at all. But she still wears it and never takes it off. Well there was one moment she didn't wear it but that was mostly because she lost it.

FLASHBACK TO LAST YEAR

Shoot shoot shoot! I’m sooo late! And then there is this stupid hill i need to walk up! Why don’t they have shuttle buses? O wait I know dumbass. BECAUSE YOU OVERSLEPT AND THEY ARE ALREADY UP THE HILL WITH ALL THE STUDENTS. I screamed at myself. So I just had to run up that hill if I wanted to make it in on time. When I finally reached the top everybody was already inside. So I just walked towards the big wooden doors which were decorated with flowers, leaves and magical creatures. Just like the ones out of a movie I thought. I’ve always loved mythical creatures and history. For a moment I was afraid the doors would already be closed. But luckily for me one of the doors was still open so I stepped inside and almost bumped into this tall blond girl who suddenly stepped out of the shadows with her head down. Mumbling things like Where is it? I need it. I’m dead. ‘’ For a moment I just wanted to walk further and let her be. But before I could walk further she spotted me and waved. “I’m sorry, can you please help me?’’ she asked while coming a little bit closer to me. ‘’I lost a really important ring.’’ She came closer while she dodged the sunbeams that shone through the door. ‘’Um.. yeah.. sure. Yes, I will help you find your ring. How does it look? ‘’It’s a golden ring with a little red diamond and there are some branches around it. It’s really old. I really need to find it.’’ She told me before turning around again for the ring. ‘’Sounds like a really pretty and important ring, was it your grandmother’s ring?’’ I asked her as I looked around the hall and bent down every now and then to look under the cupboards and tables that were around the hall. She turned to me and nodded. “Yay something like that. I just need it back like now’’ she said. So we looked for what felt like ten minutes before she suddenly screamed happy ‘’’There you are!’’ She said before bending down and removing the ring from under one of the cabinets in the far back.

‘’Hello Lucy? Are you still with us on earth?’’ I hear Allison ask while she waves her hand in front of me and laughs a bit. I laugh a bit and nod. ‘’Yes, I'm sorry. I was just thinking about our first day when we met. And you losing your ring. And that somehow after that we were best friends. Don’t get me wrong, I love it that after that we became friends. But it’s still weird when you wear it. It doesn't even fit with your outfit. And I know you're just all about the matching stuff’’ I tried once again. I know this ring thing is a no go with her. And she’s just like my dad. When I ask about it she just shuts up and starts about something new. But I just had to try it again. For a moment it seems like she wants to say something but before she does she snaps out of it. ‘Well let’s go, the headmaster is going to give his speech’’ She says to me and before I know it she grabs my arm and takes me to one of the college rooms.
