I woke up and checked the time. It was only 10 PM but Mason was rooting. I sat up and brought him to my breast while I grabbed my phone and scrolled with one hand looking for messages, any messages, but there was nothing. I felt a pain in my chest and my heart hardened. I guess Ryan was like every other guy in the world. I guess he was just like Caleb, and it was all hidden under that nice guy disguise. I looked down at Mason and brushed my hand through his soft hair. You will be a better man one day. I will make certain of it.
