River The room felt too small for the tension that hung between us. I could feel Noah’s glare burning into me, and I wasn’t about to back down. His words, sharp and unrelenting, had already struck a nerve, and I wasn’t one to let things slide. “You don’t get to talk to me like that, Noah,” I snapped, stepping closer to him. My fists clenched, my pulse pounding in my ears. “Not when you’re the one who started all this.” “And what are you going to do about it, River? Run your mouth some more?” he shot back, his tone mocking. “Maybe you should think before you act for once.” That was it. My temper flared, and before I knew it, we were in each other’s faces. The next thing I knew, fists were flying, and the sound of Noel’s scream cut through the chaos. “Stop it! Both of you, just stop!”
