Author's pov
Next morning Akriti woke up quite early to avoid the scoldings of her grandmother as all the guest were staying at their place due to wedding as it was only few days away.
She got ready in a simple mint green suit which made her look elegant and she descended down the stairs to greet everyone just to notice chaos all around the house preparing for her wedding.
She tried to involve herself in work to avoid her cousins and their teasings beacuse she very well knew that none of them will stay back when it comes to annoy her and now they got a wonderful topic to discuss upon.
Smiling to herself she made her way to kitchen hoping to help with something.
But was dismissed as she is the bride and her working would be unnecessary.
Akriti's pov
"Akriti beta" dadisa(grandmother) called
"Yes.."
"You are looking very beautiful, it's good that you got ready we have to go to temple to offer God your wedding invitation and to take blessings" she said smiling
"Ok so shall we go" I replied
After that we all went to temple and got our blessings specially mine.
To be true I am the pampered child of the house but the attention I am getting now is something different, perks of being the bride......nite the sarcasm plzz....
In our culture wedding functions are conducted separately so we will be having separate function sand lots of more relatives are gonna come in a few days to attend wedding which is gonna be hectic for everyone
Time seems to run a marathon these days everything is happening at such a drasting pace I didn't even got time to spend with my family with all the rituals and preparation it was already the day of my wedding.
Today is the biggest day of my life, every girl dreams to get married I did too and this moment feels so overwhelming and exiting.
Here getting ready for my groom who didn't even talked to me after that dare night which kind of frustrated me. But looking myself in the mirror as his bride I don't know what I felt truly was I happy or it's just nervousness.
I was surrounded by tons of people but it still felt empty from within the feeling of separation devastating.
Dad: look at her she is looking just like her mother
my father's voice broke my trance and I looked at him with a little smile. Beside him stood my annoying big brother with glistening eyes that he tried to hide but couldn't.
Both of them engulfed me in a heartwarming hug I couldn't help but shed tears grasping the moment missing my mother the most at this point.
Just the sounds of trumpets and crackers ingulfed the surroundings everyone hurriedly went towards the main entrance to see the groom and his family as Barat have arrived dad and bhai left too to greet the guest leaving me alone in the embrace of my room.
This room is my safe place from childhood it has experienced my every emotion every turmoil my happiness and sadness I will miss all of this.
Nehal: Akriti.....
I turned to see nehal there with a mischievous glint in her eyes
Nehal: Look how beautiful you are looking, I swear your husband will be tongue bounded seeing you
Just like a angle from heaven.
I couldn't help but blush at her comments, she understanding my emptiness stayed with me until I was called for the Varmala (Garlands exchange)
I adjust my veil which covered my face and was escorted to the Mandap (Altar) by my brother and cousins.
Everyone single eye was on me I can feel it the way the eyed my appearance it made me nervous and frightened I have social anxiety and the attention isn't helping much with it.
While exchanging garlands I felt him looking at me with so much intensity making my knees go weak.
After that we were asked to sit before the fire to proceed with the wedding ceremony
I sat with a man who is like a Stanger to me, I knew nothing about him but still his presence felt comfortable and oddly protective. We were asked to hold hands I felt a current run through me feeling his rough hand under my soft ones.
The rituals proceeded when we were asked to take seven sacred vows and rounds of the holy fire that will be followed throughout our whole married life.
Seven vows are like seven pillars of married life they give you sense of responsibility, and understanding of marriage and its rules. Marriage is not only about two individuals but also their sacrifices, fights, happy and sad moments their understanding and trust over each other every factor makes marriage work and beautiful.
After that we sat down again and he was asked to fill my hairline with vermillion. He lifted his hand holding a silver coin and filled my partition with vermillion. This process happened three times.
Priest: Vivah sampan hua, Aaj se aap dono pati patni hai.
(The marriage is successful, you both are husband and wife now.)
We were asked to take blessings of our elders after all that it was time to eat dinner, we all sat together on the dining table arranged in the luscious garden of our mansion. All of us were served with food and we both were supposed to eat from same plate as a ritual.
Random aunt: Wait wait wait, You both have to feed each other first morsel as husband and wife
Like seriously aunty I am hungry please let me eat this husband of mine doesn't seem interested in feeding me so I lifted my hand first to feed him with the morsel.
Later he preceeded with the sane but when his fingers touched my lips it did something to me it felt so sensual in the presence of everyone, making my ears turn red thank God I am still having the veil over my face.
