The physician looked from me to Jasper,
"She's going to ok, as long as get plenty of rest and her wounds don't get infected." he looked down at his chart.
"Did either of you know about her under lining health condition?"
"No!" I said stepping forward.
"It's nothing to concerning as of right now but with out checks it could grow into something much more serious."
"I'd be more grateful if you could just tell me what the hell is wrong!" I growled, I could feel Jasper eye me.
"She has something that is rare for a hybrid of her kind, Crystal Tears Disease. It's not always fatal but like I said before if unmonitored it can spread throughout her body slowly turning her to Crystal."
"What can I do? Is there a way to reverse it?" Jasper asked as I tried to process what I was just told.
"Unfortunately no, but there are some studies that are promising! They have shown to slow the disease in a good portion of the test subjects." the physician said walking to a filing cabinet.
"They've are still in the testing stages, not open to the public."
I walked towards Persephone's room looking at her peacefully laying on the bed her left arm was wrapped along with half her upper body. I clenched my fist a growing pain in my chest, turning me to a statue where I stood. All I could do is watch her breath slow and shallow.
The words sounded far away as if I was in a tunnel, my feet moved of their own accord stopping at the side of her bed.
Her skin was like snow, her lashes where so long they touched her round cheeks. Her round super chubby belly was being partly squeezed by the bandages.
I wanted to scoop her up and run away with her, I every urge to do so knowing she needed the help.
"I'd like to keep her here for the night just to make sure the bleeding doesn't start back up, you're welcome to stay...both of you are." he said glancing back at Jasper.
He left me and Jasper standing on either side of Persephone.
"Lucian, I can be gone before she even wakes up and you'll never hear or see me again."
I thought about telling him to leave, I wanted to push him out the door myself.
"No. Ma wouldn't forgive me, but if you want to keep living under the Packs protection then I suggest we figure this out. I personally don't want to see you around her but I know her being your Luna that's not possible."
"Thank you...brother." Jasper whispered looking down at Persephone, I gridded my teeth.
Persephone pov.
My eyes felt heavy, everything was blurry and I couldn't move. The lights where to bright and hurt my eyes. Everything hurt the last thing I could remember was Lucian on top of me, furious.
"Lucian?" I whispered my eyes finally starting to focus.
He grabbed my hand and kissed my forehead
"Hey!"
I could feel the relief in his voice it made me feel like for the first time in ment something to someone. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I looked into his eyes. In a chair in the corner I could see Jasper's sleeping body.
"I'm sorry..." Lucian whispered not wanting to look me in the eyes.
"I...it's going to be ok." I said softly, he laid his head on the bed.
For a moment he seemed so fragile like a scared child, I placed my hand on his shoulder not saying anything. We sat in silence for a while, when he finally looked at me there was a kindness in them different from before. I wanted to pull him close to me but I could hardly move my arm.
From the corner I could see Jasper waking up, I wanted to be angry with him but I couldn't. Lucian glanced at Jasper his jaw tightened then relaxed.
"We're going to have to figure this out."
"Figure what out exactly?" I was beyond confused and could only look back and forth between them.
There was a tension in the air so thick you could cut it with a knife. I waited for one of them to speck, it was like they was having a conversation in their minds. After awhile Jasper spoke first.
"It seems in some twisted sense of humor fate has me and my brother both have the bond with you."
"What?! Is that even possible?"
"it's never been recorded before so we aren't sure." Lucian said through his teeth.
"What...how...what do we do?"
"There is nothing we can do a wolf's bond is unbreakable, only if one of the mates says they do not except their mate but in doing so the can kill the unwanted." Jasper said siting in the chair opposite Lucian.
"I don't want anyone to die!" I practically yelled.
"No one is going to die." Lucian placed a hand on my cheek.
"We'll just have to figure it out, it's that simple."
"Look I don't f*****g know what's happening or why but I think we need to consult the elders." Jasper was looking only at Lucian, who was deep in thought.
"And what happens if the elders don't know what to do and do what they always do in those situations! Just because they've been around the longest don't mean they know s**t about this." Lucian's voice was full anger and frustration.
"What about the elven court, they may have some clue as to what is happening."
They looked from me to each other.
"It's not the best choice either but it's better then nothing." I whispered.
"We'll figure something out, I promise." Lucian said as the physician entered the room.
"Good morning, I'm glad to see you awake. I'm going to cheek a few things and then if nothing is wrong or worrying you can leave. I only ask that next time your around a transitioning wolf try to get as far away as possible. I understand that it is harder for someone of your stature or build." he said it so mindlessly I almost didn't catch his under handed remark on my size.
"I'd like you to watch what you say to my Luna!" Lucian stood making the physician look much smaller then he was.
Jasper walked around the bed placing a hand on Lucian's shoulder.
"Maybe we should step out for some air?"
"I agree!"
Lucian looked at me and I nodded and smiled slightly trying to relax him. Reluctantly he let Jasper lead him out, once they were out of the room I turned my attention to the physician.
"I'm quite aware of my over sized figure, but I think if you don't want to be the one in my place you might want to refrain from specking about it around my mate."
He swallowed nodding sharply,
"I apologize."
