Detention

Chapter 3

I awkwardly take a seat in the back, even though the class is empty. I just don't want to sit facing him.

He just corrects papers, not looking my way. I decide to make use of this time and pull out my History book and text book, and start doing my homework.

After about one hour, he puts away his papers and look at me. I try to ignore his gaze as I continue writing.

"So." His voice breaks the silence.

"So." I retort.

"Are you just going to sit there and do homework?" He raises his eyebrow.

"I mean, isn't that what we do in detention?" I roll my eyes.

"I don't know, this doesn't seem like much of a punishment." He shrugs.

"Okay.. Then what do you want to do?"

"Just, tell me a bit about yourself."

I widen my eyes. "What do you want to know?"

"What do you like to do- I mean except study all the time?" He teases and a small smile takes over my frown.

"Uh, I like listening to music."

"Oh, that's cool. I do too." He says.

"Nice. Do you play any instruments?" I ask.

He nods, "I've been playing the piano for years."

My jaw drops. This guy plays the piano? I expected he spends his life on i********: or something.

"What about you?" He asks me.

"I play the guitar." I blush.

"Oh, sweet."

"I hear you're pretty talented in sketching.. especially in maths class." He smirks.

Oh my god. Did he actually look at what I was drawing in his class?

"What? No I'm not." I look at my feet.

"I'd appreciate it if you'd focus more in class, Jennifer." He suddenly says, his expression stern.

"I do focus. You'll see on our next quiz." I smile.

"Okay then, we'll do a quiz tomorrow, and I'll see."

"Works for me." I shrug. He smiles a bit but then looks away. We sit in silence the rest of the time.

I look at the clock and two hours have passed.

"Well I'll be going now." I say.

He looks at me and nods. "Bye Jennifer."

"Bye Mr.Styles." I speak and walk to the door.

"Wait, Jennie." He stops me in the doorway.

"Yeah?" I look at him, confused.

"Call me Harry." He smiles.
