As I sipped my juice, I couldn’t help but imagine Lucas meeting some stunning woman he’d once been involved with—someone like Joanna. Instantly, my mood soured.
Lucien watched me, understanding immediately, as usual. “I brought tuna sandwiches. Want to eat before seeing Lola?”
I nodded eagerly, making him chuckle as he handed me a sandwich slice. I munched on it contentedly, and he left after I finished.
Just then, a graceful older woman with shoulder-length gray hair and chocolate complexion entered the room. Her gentle, motherly aura reminded me of my late grandmother, and her presence lifted my mood immediately.
