Rose's POV We get in the car, and Es starts it. I sit in the back seat. "Nice ride, sis!" I comment. She smiles nervously. "Thanks," she mumbles, her hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. Something on her finger catches the sunlight streaming through the glass window. "Oh my God! Did Lucas propose?!" I exclaim. "Yeah, last night," she answers without glancing back. "Wow! Spill the details!" I demand, eager for gossip—even if it’s about my sister. "Later, girl. We have an outing to plan!" She laughs. She looks so happy with Lucas. Happier than she ever was with Dave—and she was very happy with Dave. Maybe it’s the mate bond. I’m happy with Lucien too, but it feels like something’s still missing in our relationship.
