Just as he crouched low to get into the business that had brought him here, a loud roar ripped through the distance, followed immediately by a menacing sound that echoed through the air.
The man standing before me froze instantly, and the others beside him did the same. They exchanged brief glances, whispering hurried words I couldn't quite make out.
My mind was already locked, my thoughts bored, and my eyes burned with yet fresh tears. Tears of fear for what was about to happen. Tears because Keira wasn't even in close range anymore. I'm afraid of what might have happened to her. I'm afraid for us. I'm afraid if I would ever get to hear her voice again, if I could ever get to say goodbye, if whatever had turned out happened to be the end.
