Have you ever had a secret, especially from the past? Well, in my family, we always have secrets from the past, such as family secrets and wolf pack secrets that no one should ever know outside of the family or the wolf pack. Sometimes our secrets accidentally get out in public, like our secret traditions such as worshiping the devil with suffocating people or animals in the deep hidden forest behind the packhouse. Just joking, I am totally kidding about that; we do not even do any type of stuff. We are the type of pack where we have our own traditions, such as throwing a huge party to celebrate important things in our pack like weddings, new-age wolves, birthdays, and many other things. For many years, my family and the pack have had many secrets and legends that go back hundreds of years. It has been passed down through generations with many traditions. One of the most important celebrations we have is the Harvest Festival. It is like a huge festival where everyone in the whole town comes out together and everyone celebrates. It goes back hundreds of years, and when it first started, there were things that were sacred that no one outside of the pack knew about until there was a traitor in the pack who really was a rouge. The legend was about a tragic night when he came onto the pack’s territory without permission in the middle of the night with a small group of rogues who helped kill the two top families, the alpha and beta families, in the middle of the night. Ever since then the pack has always kept its legends and secrets private, so nothing like that will happen again, especially with having two females in the next line for alpha and beta, which is the first time in the whole werewolf history and especially to our pack.
Anyways, when I was a little girl, my grandma always told me about all kinds of legends, secrets, and other things that you should not know as a child, just in case you have a nightmare. She always told me about hunters, who are vampires that are trained to hurt or even kill us. They are always our number one enemy, and they will always find ways to learn our secrets and legends to take us out once and for all. Lucky for me, I have never had to deal with a hunter before, and I hope to God that I never will. My grandma was an elder; she died of old age, and bless her heart, she was the kind of person who always took care of the younger pups while the parents were working or needed someone to look after them. She always told stories of our legends to the younger kids around campfires, especially the ones in the secret society of hunters. There are certain types of people who have their own secrets and legends. My grandma used to keep a journal of all the legends and secrets that she had learned over the many years that she had lived.I walked into the big library and took one of my grandma’s many journals that was placed on a very special shelf. I took the very first journal that she wrote. I walked to my favorite spot in the library, which had a window where you could look out into the woods with lots of sunlight coming through the window. I sat down on the window seat, opened the notebook, and began to read.Werewolves are known as "lycanthropes," which is a late Old English wer(e)wulf, a compound of "man" and "wolf.". in Greek mythology with the Legend of Lycaon. According to the legend, Lycaon, the son of Pelasgus, angered the god Zeus when he served him a meal made from the remains of a sacrificed boy. Werewolves were first mentioned in the year 60 AD and originated from Europe; there are many other myths, such as those of Laitn, Rome, and many other places around the world. Some scholars believe the werewolf made its debut in The Epic of Gilgamesh, the oldest known Western prose, when Gilgamesh jilted a potential lover because she had turned her previous mate into a wolf... The father-son duo donned the pelts, transformed into wolves, and went on a killing rampage in the forest. As I continued to read, I was interrupted by Hazel, who said..."What are you reading?" She asked while looking at the old journal that looked as if it was going to fall apart."It's an old journal that grandma wrote a long time ago to help preserve our heritage, such as our pack legends and secrets. Uncle Ian should be coming any minute to teach us more about it, especially teaching you." "Where are the boys?" I said this while closing the journal and standing up from the chair that was next to the window."I have no idea; they might be still in their beds kissing girls." eww. "They have cooties now, and they better not kiss me on the cheek or the forehead because I will kick them in the nuts or something," Hazel said, sounding a bit angry."Hazel, you know what mom said about kicking boys in the nuts? It's not ladylike and it's rude," I told her."Yeah, that's true, but it's not my fault; I was raised by you guys; just remember that," she said and giggled."Well, that's true, but we didn't raise you to be a rogue wolf pup; that's all on Colton and Troy." I told her while helping her put her notebook on her desk."Hey, we didn't teach her anything; she needs to learn to defend herself from one or something even worse." Troy said while walking into the library."What is something worse than a rogue?" "Is there something more deadly than one?" Hazel asked while hugging her stuffed animal."Well, there is a legend about a creature of the night; legends say that he or she is a vampire who is trained to capture and kill any werewolf they see or know of. There was a time when a whole pack was wiped out by a group of vampires, who pretty much captured Luna and did many terrible things to her. The stories say she was the only one who survived while her partner, the alpha, was the killer in the battle. Uncle Ian said while walking into the library and sitting down at the end of the long table."Yeah, I am definitely going to have nightmares tonight; thanks for scaring me," Hazel said while hiding behind Hunter."It's alright, no one will ever hurt you or anyone in this room," Colton said with a smile on his face."Don't forget me; I will always help Colt with tearing someone apart, and besides, what kind of brother would I be if I didn't protect my siblings?" Troy said with a smile on his face while thinking, "tearing someone to shreds.""What are we talking about?" I thought I heard something about vampires. "My gosh, male vampires are so damn yummy with their six-pack abs; I can just lick some whip cream off them anyway if I ever get the chance to meet one," Kaylie said while walking into the library."Kaylie, Hazel is in the room, and she doesn't need to do anything like that." "She is way too young to know about that type of stuff," I said while covering her ears."Oh my God, I am so sorry. I read too many new adult fiction books, and I am really sorry, Hazel." Kaylie spoke while feeling a bit embarrassed.Anyways, we took our seats at the long table in the library, and as the lesson dragged on for a few hours, I was dying of hunger to the point where I just ended up daydreaming of l*****g whip cream off Alecx’s six-pack abs. For a moment, I picture him sleeping in his bed, just lying there with his messy hair all over the pillow, his white, tight-fitting t-shirt with his abs showing through his shirt, and his boxers hugging his hips. I can smell his scent, a mix of body wash and cologne that is memorized in my head, and I can always smell him if he is close to his scent. I tend to daydream about him more and more since the first time I saw him. My grandma always said if you find your soulmate, he or she will always be on your mind, even if you never think of him or her. As soon as the class ended for the day, I immediately woke up, saw Colt staring at me, and spoke."Um, whatcha dreaming about? You're drooling; are you dreaming of having deer tonight for dinner or something?" "Tonight we get to show Hazel how we hunt in wolf form, and she will have to learn, especially when she turns into a wolf pup at Harvest Festival in about a month." Colt said with a grin, and he loves teaching his pack to hunt with the help of his close group of leaders, who just happen to be his family."Um, nothing, maybe daydreaming of someone or probably the taste of sinking my teeth into a deer's neck or feeling the warm blood rush out of something like eating a chocolate piece of candy with caramel." I said while wiping the drool from my chin."What the f**k did I just hear?" Hazel said with a weird look on her face while standing with her mouth hanging open."Oh sh*t, I forgot that she is a pup, and did she just cuss?" Troy said with a chuckle."Guys, watch your language around her." "After all, she is only five, and if the elders hear her saying naughty words, they might have a heart attack or something." Kaylie said while she was cleaning up her stuff."I won't tell you if you won't; everyone agrees?" Hunter said this while trying to get everyone on the same page."Oh s**t, I mean, oh fudge, here comes Uncle Ian, everyone quits, and no one says anything," I said while trying to cover myself by saying cuss words in front of Hazel."What's going on with everyone?" Hazel, are you ready to see what we do for the hunt for the Harvest Festival? We are going to go out tonight around dawn and practice. You do not need to do anything but watch. Uncle Ian said with a big smile on his face."Nothing, they are just telling me how fun it is to go hunting in the woods tonight and watch what you guys do." Hazel said.
After Uncle Ian left the library, we all signed in relief, knowing he would never know what Hazel said earlier. The boys took Hazel to find some camouflage clothes for her to wear so she can feel like she is hunting with us tonight while Kaylie and I went to have a secret girl talk about what I was dreaming about in day school.
