Road to hell

“Good morning sir” “off to work already?” “Yes” “Take care” few minutes from the house and this happens “Good morning mummy, I’m inviting you to our service this Sunday” “I’m not your mother and isn’t it too early to share tracts” “I’m sorry i was only being respectful and it’s never too early to win souls for Christ” “because I’m fat so you think i can pass for ‘mummy’?” “I’m sorry” i hissed and walked away from the annoying evangelist. Can i have a day without being mocked? Just one day. “Happy e don tey ooo, how your side na?” “Happy, Happy, drop something for the boys na” “Sister Happy good morning ooo” “Sister Happy you no go buy akara today?” “Happy Afa na” My neighborhood is so ratchet that this and many more is what i hear every time I’m in the neighborhood and it’s annoying. “Ah ah Happy, Happy, i see you today” Sandy, Sandy, my childhood friend, the only person who has shown me nothing but love since day one, never mocked me but always supported and encouraged me, she was nice to me, was, but things changed when i started adding weight or so i thought. But we still talk once in a while, mostly when I’m in the neighborhood. “Sandy Afa na” “I just dey ooo, when you take reach this side?” “Yesterday ooo” “sharp, sharp, na work you see so?” “Yeah yeah” “take care oo, i wan go buy akara for mama samu place” “alright bye” “Where this girl dey fat dey go?” “She come be like mama” “Abi she don born and we nor know” “why you dey ask me?” “ no be your friend that time, you supposed know na” I heard sandy and someone whispering to themselves and i hastened my footsteps to get away from them because i didn’t want to hear any more of it. I boarded a taxi to work, I sat at the front seat and paid double to sit alone to avoid ‘too much talk’. As the taxi took a sharp turn to the left, I saw Destiny outside a boutique, walking towards his car and just then a lady comes out of the boutique and got in the car with him and he drove off, my taxi was dropping off a passenger so i was able to see the direction he drove off to, what was he doing at a boutique by that time of the morning and he didn’t hold any package bag to say he got something, the lady also didn’t have any package bag, which was strange, I mean the purpose of going to a boutique is to get stuffs right?! I brought out my phone from my hand bag and called him but he didn’t pick up, i let myself assume he didn’t pick up because he is driving. The thought of what he could possibly be doing right now or where he drove to with that lady, filled my mind that i didn’t know when the driver passed my stop. The driver got to his final stop and asked “madam where you dey go, na here i dey reach oo” “eee oga i tell you say salami junction na” “which one be you tell me, why you No remind me? Madam abeg come down for my motor” “you no be better person ooo” “na you no be better person, you dey craze for head” “abeg dey go ee, yeye man” “ashawo, commot for here jor, fat fool” i was pained not just because of his words but because i was a long way from my work place and i already over spent for my transportation by paying for two seats, i didn’t have much on me and the only money on me wouldn’t be enough for me to return from work and go home if i used it now. At this point i had to call DY to send me money for transportation. I know you would be wondering why I’m not financially buoyant when i have a rich boyfriend, well, we’ve been dating for less than 6months and he is not all that rich, plus he is the bread winner of his own family so the bills are much on him and i try not to pressure him too much with my own needs, he sends me little whenever he has. I called him severally but he didn’t pick up so i just boarded another taxi to work and decided to let my go-home transport fare sort it self out when it’s time. I got to work a little late, let’s say 30mins or so, as i stepped into the office i met Alora. “Kaima, two days in a role, you used to be punctual, what happened today again?” Again????! I knew i shouldn’t have ranted to her yesterday, now she’s already tired of my complaints???! Okay, kaima, calm down, you are over thinking this and it’s not good for your mental health. “Again? Really?” “Yh because you were late yesterday for a reason” we walked into my office and she sat opposite me. “Well i passed” “passed asin ?” “The taxi passed my stop, the office junction” “girlll, how did that happen” she asked laughing, yh it was funny and i joined the laugh “but seriously how did it happen kaima” “I was lost in thought and forgot to tell him to stop when i got to the junction so he drove me to his last bus stop” “this is funny but also serious, what fills your mind that’s disturbing enough for you to pass your stop point” “random thoughts” she looked at me with a face that says ‘really?’ “Anyways it’s all good, you are lucky HR didn’t notice you were not in the office earlier” “thank God oo i no fit for that man talk today” she laughed and left my office and i got to work, forgetting for a moment my thoughts of Destiny’s whereabouts.
