Chapter 11 The Devil's Due All was dark in Finkle’s upper room except where the moonlight streamed through the window. The candelabra stood in view of the dim light with its candles that had melted to the base of their holders. As Finkle ascended the stairs, flames from his fingers lit whole candles that had instantly replaced the melted candles, as if by an unseen hand. The candlelight revealed that the partially completed figure on the floor had become a completed pentagram. Placed in the center of it was the armchair. "I took it right from under those devils' very noses," he gloated as he removed a black bandanna from his head. A silver brooch inset on the bandanna cradled a ruby. "They were even so careless as to leave it hanging around on a peg in plain sight." He laughed raucously
