“Last night was beautiful but f**k you!” I shouted as I tried to piece together the events of the previous night. I had no idea how I ended up in this mess.
You may be wondering how I got here… yea! Someone thought it was a great idea to go to the billionaires club drunk and only relying on our good looks to get theough the night.
And that was I how met the most dashing yet arrogant man I’d ever seen, Ethan Ross.
The entire impulsiveness and chaos of last night somehow landed me a contract marriage deal which I didn’t want but had to do because I drunkenly accepted it as long as he footed my bills that night.
Damn it!
“Kayla! Do you know what this means? Our lives have changed for the better!” My very indecisive and impulsive best friend, Mercy said over the phone.
I had to plead with Ethan Ross to go for a bathroom break from his office because I was already hyperventilating at the sound of marriage.
“What do you mean mercy? I’m in deep s**t and it’s all your fault! f**k! You and your bad decisions all the time! Now I got to accept this else they go for my family!” I yelled in frustration, glaring at myself in the mirror of the ladies bathroom where I was at.
As I looked at myself in the mirror of the ladies bathroom, I couldn’t help but notice how grand it was. It was the only time I got to see such exquisiteness, except when I went on one-night stands with rich men in rich hotels.
And before you conclude, no I’m not a harlot! I’m just very impulsive with a best friend who makes bad decisions for a living.
“Hey! Relax! It has always been your dream to marry someone rich right? Remember your family! They’re in the deep ends of that cold village. Too weak to even make a living for themselves. Do not forget how your siblings are suffering and your jobs can’t even afford to get all them through school,” she said and I took in a deep breath to reflect on what she said with my phone still placed on my ears.
“I would take this offer if I were you and set my own terms and live happily! How bad could it be?!” She shouted excitedly while I rolled my eyes and hung up without a notice.
………..
“Ethan! Ethan! I’m sorry! I’m so sorry! Please! Don’t let me go! Remember I’m carrying your child!” I pleaded with my husband, tears streaming down my face.
He ordered his staff to pack my bags and throw them outside while he ordered for a cab to take me back home. The sound of the door slamming shut echoed through the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
“Don’t f*****g say that! I’ve had enough of you and I can’t stand to see your face! You will deliver that child but away from me. When you have given birth, I will come and carry my baby!” He thundered, making me flinch.
My heart squeezed at those words. All I ever wanted was to be the perfect wife for Ethan, but it seemed that the more I tried, the angrier he became with me.
After consenting to a contract marriage a year ago, I thought things between him and I would eventually get rosy. Mercy always convinced me of how my charms never failed to work.
“Mercy, my charms have failed this time!” I remembered yelling at her over the phone after I was fed up with her bullshit stories.
“He’s definitely a monster if he hasn’t softened up to you by now!” Mercy added, and I groaned in frustration.
“What do I do? They warned me about him, but I thought they were all bullshitting!” I cried out and collapsed on my bed when Ethan bumped into my room angrily. His men who were behind him trooped in and started throwing my things out.
I was so confused; I couldn’t say a word. I couldn’t think of one bad thing I’d done to him. I abandoned my past life already, if that’s what you’re thinking.
Or was it the perfect cappuccinos that I made for him every morning or the bountiful lunch that I made for him every single day which he ate only when he felt like it. Often times, he didn’t even bother to look at my food.
“Am I a bad cook?” I remembered asking one of my staff discreetly while she shook her head slowly. He had just got home and stormed into his bedroom. I didn’t even get a chance to hug him or welcome him home properly.
“No! Our contract is not over yet, Ethan!” I, for the first time in my life as Mrs. Ross, spoke back at him with a raised voice.
I knew I was in deep s**t already.
“What did you say?” he asked, obviously surprised because it was the first time I’d done that.
“When you first met me, I was a drunk lady who made a terrible decision which you took advantage of,” I said with a shaky voice, looking him deep in the eye.
Oh my goodness, he still looked so hot in all that chaos. I wondered if he thought the same about me.
“I eventually took your offer which was supposed to last 5 years! It’s only been one year and it has been hell! You think I haven’t heard about all the women you sleep with? And the ones you take to lunch and even go ahead to sleep over at their places?!" I said and he looked at me with a surprised expression.
“I know we are not married for love but each time you do this, it hurts me. I’m honestly fed up with you as much as you are with me but we had a deal that you must stick to! Else, I will rain hell upon you!” I threatened with obvious fury in my expression.
“You will rain hell?” he said with a mocking laugh.
“Oh, I’d love to see you try,” he said with a scoff and walked inside at once.
“Ethan! Ethan!” I called out, clutching onto my bulging belly while I desperately tried to run after him.
His men who were behind me reached out for me in an attempt to hold me back when I struggled and slipped away from their hands but with a loud thud on the ground.
Suddenly, I felt something warm and wet between my legs. I looked down and saw that my dress was stained with blood.
I was bleeding.
“Oh no no no no. No!” I screamed at the top of my voice, clutching my belly.
My vision blurred, and my head spun. I felt like I was going to pass out. Everything went black.
