*Nicole's POV*
I spent most of the time alone in my room. People would bring me food but would leave shortly after. I hated the silence. Sure I had a room, a massive room at that, but I was basically stuck in here like a prisoner. I was locked away in a cell again. I felt annoyed and angry about this and I let out a massive groan.
“UGH!”
The door swung open and there stood a man who looked familiar. I believe he was the Beta.
“What's wrong!” He asked frantically looking around.
I laughed at his odd behavior.
“Nothing. I just hate being locked up.”
He furrowed his brows.
“You know the door is open right?”
“Ugh!” I threw myself back on the bed.
He chuckled and walked towards me.
“Here, let's get some air.”
As he held his hand out to me I gently took it and he placed his arm around my back. He helped me hop out of the room and down the stairs. I felt exhausted just from that short distance.
I was panting and sweat was dripping down my face and neck.
“Umm you sure you're okay to do this?” He asked me. Concern was written across his face.
“I am fine. Why does everyone have to treat me like a glass doll?”
“Have you met our Alpha?”
I laughed dryly.
“You mean the massive helicopter parent? Yea I have met him.”
He chuckled and looked at me. We sat in chairs outside. The fresh air felt nice on my skin. I loved the outdoors. It felt like so long since I have been out here. I looked down at my body.
My feet were cut up and discolored, my legs were thin and you could see the scars that tattooed my skin. The newest addition was the laceration down my thigh. It was about 8 inches long and even with the stitches you could see how bad the cut was. I ran my fingers across the scars and my smile faded.
“You know that we are here to help you right?”
I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
He looked at me and tried to read my expression.
“Why are you so guarded?” He asked me.
“You wouldnt understand”.
“You're right. Because you wont open up to anyone.”
His words hurt but I knew they were true.
“I barely escaped one maniac with my life, I don't know you–”
“You're joking right?” His words were cold and filled with pain.
“Seriously, do you want to know where our Alpha is right now?”
I looked at him briefly before looking away.
“Nicole, HE is out there looking for the bastards who did this to you. You've been here for almost 2 months and he's done nothing but stand beside you and care for you. He wants to find who did this to you and end them”.
My heart fluttered. I hated that feeling. Stop thinking so highly of him.
“Why. I didn't ask him to”.
He scoffed and stood up quickly. I jumped at his movements.
“You are so naive”. He whispered it under his breath. I barely made out what he said.
“Look, it's not my place. Only he can explain it to you. But you should know the truth about where he is and I don't know… maybe try to open up some?”
I felt the tears burning my eyes. I wanted to cry. I closed my eyes to keep the tears from falling.
He sighed beside me and sat back down.
“I'm sorry..” I whispered never opening my eyes.
“It's alright. I am too” He said gently while placing a hand on my back.
“Can you tell me anything at all that may help us find the people who did this to you? Or tell me anything at all about yourself?”
I smiled slightly and looked up at him.
“Your name is Sam right?”
He nodded.
“I had a best friend growing up.. His name was Sammy”.
I noticed Sam was smiling at that.
“Where is Sammy now?” He asked me.
My smile faltered as I explained what had happened.
“When my pack was attacked, we escaped into the forest. We ran for a long time. He saw me… for who I really was. And then they found us. I tried to protect us but they… they killed him..” I felt the tears burning my eyes and falling down my face.
“I am so sorry..” That was all he could say.
We sat on the porch for a while in silence. I knew I had the blood of an alpha running through me. I knew I wasn't weak. I would train and train hard so I could protect those I loved. I promised myself that day that I would make my family proud. I felt my wolf stir in the back of my mind approving of my promise.
