Edward The meeting dragged longer than I expected. The council of elders always found a way to argue over the smallest detail—land distribution between packs, new warriors to be trained, supplies for the northern borders. Each voice around the long oak table carried weight, but at the end of it, they all looked at me for the final word. I leaned back in my chair, the heavy crest of the Alpha King gleaming above us on the stone wall. My tone was calm but firm when I settled the dispute. “Send twice the rations to the northern border, and add ten more warriors to their patrol. I want stability there before winter sets in. No excuses.” They bowed their heads in agreement, their voices overlapping in murmured acknowledgments. That was the end of it. I dismissed them with a wave of my hand,
