The atmosphere of the coffee shop was pleasant, and I arrived much later than the day before, the sky darkened by the setting sun and a sweep of clouds. I sipped my latte, watching for Reese. Cute brunette barista was behind the counter again and she had winked at me when I ordered my drink. Settling back with an e-book, I attempted to stall my racing heart. On the short expedition from my house to the coffee shop, I’d decided an explicit conversation with Reese regarding what she expected from our relationship was necessary. Her rich laughter reached my ears and I looked up, seeing Reese standing beside Cute Barista, grinning widely. They exchanged some playful banter that had me swirling with trivial jealously.
