My mother came home after saving a life, no doubt, and relieved me of my babysitting duties. It took every ounce of my resolve and self-preservation not to push Reese on the terms of our conversation planned for later that evening. I paced the house, and when my mother asked what I was doing, I went for a walk and paced the neighborhood. Finally, I tried to digest the e-book I was reading on our front porch.
