She wondered..to be so protective and keep him from true love. Dawn kept imagining Chloe's narration, but it all lead to an inevitable outcome - they must part ways. Even though Dusk had finally begun to stand on his own again, she knew the spark between them was far from forgotten. The class room still felt charged when they both stepped in, and Dawn slowly began to crave his attention more and more. But the inevitable truth was that she had made the right decision- no amount of longing in her heart could erase what was. Falling in love with a student was strictly forbidden, and, if they were caught, it could have far reaching consequences. On the other hand, Dawn was becoming increasingly aware of his parents' reaction should the relationship be revealed. Dusk was their only son, the light of their lives, and he would surely never be forgiven if they found out. No matter how difficult it was, Dawn reminded herself of why she had to do this, and the choice she had to make. She had to protect Dusk no matter what the cost. Still four months later, Dawn dreaded the end of every philosophy class, for it would signify another week of them not being able to talk as any other students in the school as they both were expected to. One fateful day, Dusk asked her if they could walk together during the Dunmore park trips they were meant to bring. Dawn was thrown off guard and she could feel her heart racing, wondering why Dusk was giving her such a bold request. Yet it seemed like Dusk was ready to make the first move, and he wanted her to do the same. Taking a huge leap of faith, she accepted to take the walk with him. They spent most of the time in silence, but in those moments, she felt like they were old friends catching up after a long time apart. It was in those brief moments that she understood why she had to make the tough decision. Despite the heartache it caused, Dawn knew that this was the best way to protect Dusk from any backlash or backlash from his parents. Dawn knew the ultimate sacrifice after this walk. Though it was the hardest thing she ever did, it was eventually what was necessary. As hard as it was, it was the right thing to do. Dusk, too, seemed to understand, as his demeanor changed from the energy of anticipation to deep sorrow. He, too, knew the sacrifice that had to be made to avoid the inevitable backlash if the truth was revealed. So, with a heavy heart, Dusk and Dawn silently parted ways that day, and with each week they saw their old friendship drift further and further away. Over the course of time, they both realized that staying away from each other was the only thing that kept the secret safe. Though it might have been painful for both of them, in the end it was the right choice, and the only way they could protect each other.
