The night we forgot the rules

“If I kiss you again, I’m not stopping.” That’s what he said. And I’d meant it when I whispered back, “Then don’t.” But the second his lips touched mine again, it didn’t feel like a mistake. It felt inevitable. Like we’d been walking toward this moment from the very beginning. He kissed me like he needed it to breathe. Like something inside him had finally snapped and I was the only thing keeping him from losing it completely. And I let him. Because I’d wanted this too. Even if everything about it was dangerous. Even if it wasn’t part of the deal. --- He lifted me without warning, my legs wrapping around his waist as he carried me through the penthouse like he’d memorized every step, every turn. He didn’t speak. Didn’t ask. He didn’t need to. The heat between us said everything words couldn’t. I reached for him. “Don’t think. Just feel.” He did. --- We broke every rule. And it was the realest thing we’d done since the day I signed my name on that contract. No cameras. No witnesses. Just two people caught in something neither of us could control anymore. After, we didn’t speak. He laid behind me, one arm wrapped tight around my waist like he was afraid I’d disappear. Like he was trying to process what just happened. Like *he knew* it changed everything. And it had. This wasn’t business anymore. This was personal. Dangerously so. “Aria,” he said finally, his voice barely above a whisper. I turned to face him, but he didn’t meet my eyes. “I told myself I could keep it clean. That I could have you in my world and keep you out of my heart.” Silence. Then he looked at me, raw and unguarded. “I was wrong.” My heart caught. Not because I didn’t know. But because *he finally said it*. ---
