Chapter 50

1282 Words

Paige's point of View I made sure I was late to meet Jacob. I didn't want to play games or antagonize him, but I honestly just needed to see him before I went in to meet him. I needed to look at the man I loved, lose my head a little, and then compose myself and walk into the bar like the confident woman I was in front of anyone else except him. I peered through the window and let my eyes wander around the room, but I came up empty. I was looking for a man in an expensive suit who looked totally out of place with the rest of the clientele. I couldn't see anyone who matched that description. I checked my watch. It was ten past seven. To leave it any longer would be seen as rude. I would have to go in there, look him in the eye and hope that my treacherous heart didn't give me away.
