Chapter 3- Stages of Change

Once some time had passed, Ruby braced herself since she was all that she had, but her once-innocent mind had become cruel and had accepted that the world was full of black and white. She only held on to the dark portion of what the world had shown her.

Time passed, and a few months later she met John, but she had so many doubts about him that she kept on being cool friends with him only. Unbeknownst to her, John claimed that he loved her, and after she had a few casual encounters with other males, she decided to give him a chance to prove it. John is a wonderful young man who portrays himself as possessive and clinging, but in reality, he is highly possessive, and his jealousy is always filled with wrath. After giving him not only her body but also her time, love, and everything else she had. It took Ruby a long time to understand this about him, only for it to shatter her rather badly mentally after years of being emotionally abused.

You are probably aware of the popular belief that "bad boys" provide the finest s*x, or what I like to refer to as a "touch of intimacy." Despite the seemingly idyllic and harmonious state that enveloped them at the present moment, the impending disintegration of their profound bond loomed ominously in the backdrop. It escaped Ruby's cognizance that Charlie, concealed beneath a veneer of affection, struggled with an insidious addiction, a malevolent force intent on dismantling their bond and dismantling Charlie's fragile constitution. Eventually, the tempestuous turbulence escalated to such a magnitude that their relationship ruptured irreparably, while Charlie himself experienced a catastrophic breakdown as his ravaged body surrendered to the relentless assault of the substances to which he had surrendered. Rehabilitation and distance became his only recourse, as he sought solace far away from the ruins of their shattered love. Consumed by an inconsolable heartache in its entirety, Ruby succumbed to a pervasive disintegration, both mentally and physically, her very essence reduced to ruins. In retrospect, perhaps it is apt to label this tumultuous episode as Ruby's baptism into the bewildering realm of first love.
