Ashton followed me blindly to my room, his footsteps light but persistent. My emotions were a tangled mess...relief, anger, confusion....but I was grateful that I was back in control, if only for the moment. Still, it felt wild and baffling that Ashton was my second chance mate. How on earth would I deal with that stubborn fool? We were already entangled in something complicated, and now the moon goddess had thrown a twist into the mix. What more did she want from me?
I shot a glance at him over my shoulder. He stood there, his dark hair tousled, a playful smile dancing on his lips. There was a devilish charm about him, and I felt a flicker of annoyance mixed with something I couldn’t quite define. “Sit and wait for me,” I instructed, my voice steady despite the chaos inside.
