“Ouch,” I mumbled as I tried to pry my eyes open. My entire body ached, and I felt a suffocating weakness that made my blood boil. Morana’s usual fiery presence was absent, and that absence was like a gaping hole in my chest. I can feel her but it was almost like she wasn't there.
What the hell happened?
Memories surged—a dance with Larry, the sharp prick of needles, and then darkness. My rage bubbled. That damned man! He betrayed me, and I’ll make sure he pays. I'm gonna kill him in the cruelest way possible.
