Chapter 10: In My World.

Kira's POV. The employees exchanged uncertain glances, their murmurs fading into an uneasy silence. "I understand your concerns," I continued, choosing my words carefully. "Change can be intimidating and maybe unwelcoming, especially when it comes in the form of new leadership. But I assure you, my intentions are not to disrupt, but to innovate." A ripple of skepticism ran through the crowd and some of them rained cusses at, but I pressed on, undeterred because I'm in the mood for reasoning. "I know that earning your trust won't be easy," I acknowledged, meeting their gazes with a bored expression. "But I'm willing to work for it. I'm willing to listen to your grievances, to address your concerns, and to prove myself worthy of this position." "So, I propose a compromise," I declared, leaning forward in my chair. "Give me a chance to prove myself. Give me your feedback, your suggestions, your criticisms. And together, we can build a better future for this company. What do you all say?" I asked with a smile. "Oh! So you think you can talk your way through this, huh? They would not listen to you, you're just a concubine that deceived the late boss and usurp his empire, who knows, you might even be responsible for his death!" A loud voice shouted came from behind me and his statement caused an uproar as many of the employees began their nonsense rant again. Oh God! Why is it so difficult to get people to reason, I mean I'm trying to be the good guy here and they are making it so difficult. I looked at the three men who have now sauntered to the front and sighed, these people are pushing me. "Do not listen to her talks, she's a crook and a criminal, she doesn't deserve to become a boss here nor anywhere! She deserves to be in prison! Do we want a criminal as our leader?!" The older man referred to as the boss asked. "No! We don't want her! We don't want her!!" The employees screamed and rain cussed at me again. I sighed softly and stood up despite my headache saying otherwise, "I'm trying to be democratic here and you guys ain't even giving me a chance? I'm hurt, really hurt." "We don't want any changes here ma'am, so kindly take your power elsewhere. You might be able to conquer other organizations but when it comes to this one, we rule here, get out before we disgrace you." The boss ordered and I grinned, my hand clenched in anger. Why are people making it so hard for me to be nice? I'm trying so hard to be a good Democratic leader but they don't like it, they want to be ruled with an iron fist and now, I'm more than ready for that. "Enough! All of you!!" I snapped and the whole place went silent. "We would not listen to you...." "Larry! If anyone makes a sound, bless the person with a bullet!" I cut in and I heard a gun click… everywhere immediately fell into silence. "Alright people, I would not tolerate any form of anarchy in my world and you all don't give a f**k about a democratic rule either so this would lead us all to only one place... Dictatorship!" The room fell into an eerie silence, broken only by the faint sound of my own breath and their rapid heartbeats. Despite the tension, I couldn't help but let a small, wry smile creep onto my lips. "These three," I began, my voice carrying an edge of authority as I pointed at the trio, "are no longer welcome under this roof, they've been fired and you all were bribed into causing trouble in my territory and that's very bad, really bad." As I spoke, I couldn't help but cast a disdainful glance in their direction, their faces now drained of color. "But it's not just them," I continued, my eyes scanning the room, taking in the damages. "Each and every one of you played a part in this mess. Look around you, at the shattered glass, the broken gadgets, the havoc you've wreaked upon this place." My words hung heavy in the air, met with murmurs of discontent and unease from the crowd. But I wasn't finished yet. Oh no, there was more to be said. "I've tried the whole 'nice guy' routine, but clearly, that ain't cutting it," I declared, my tone firm and unwavering. "Now, you've got a choice to make. You can follow these three down the path to ruin, which might include going to jail because of their fraudulent activities, or you can stand with me and make things right." Whispers erupted as the employees exchanged nervous glances. But I wasn't about to back down. Not now, not ever, I'm not done with them, they'll regret taking me for granted. "And here's the kicker," I added, my voice cutting through the growing tension. "You lot will be footing the bill for the mess you've made. Consider it a lesson in accountability." I heard gasps but I waved away their shock with a dismissive gesture. "Listen up, folks. You've got a choice to make, plain and simple. Stay and clean up your mess, or hit the road. I don't give s f**k! Either way, you'll be footing the bill for the damages you've caused or I'll have you all arrested." A yawn crept up on me, my weariness settling in. Gosh, I was exhausted. "We... We are not... We're not going anywhere! It's either you leave or we all vacate this place, the company would be without employees!" I heard a thick voice and I turned towards the man who said that he was among the employees. My response was swift, laced with a hint of mockery. "Oh, I'm trembling in my boots,I'm so scared right now," I retorted, my laughter sharp and biting. "You're fired!" "You... You can't do that!" Another shouted beside him. "Oh yeah I can! You are equally fired!" I raged. The protests came fast and furious, but I wasn't about to back down. "You're fired! And you, and you!" I pointed at random faces in the crowd, watching as panic spread like wildfire, sending them scurrying for the exits fearing at who I would point at next. Those people I pointed too also joined them in rushing away. "If I've pointed at you, consider yourself fired!" I chuckled as I saw the almost empty hall. I called after them, my voice dripping with satisfaction. "Feel free to appeal, I might reconsider." With the room nearly emptied, I turned my attention to the three men responsible for the trouble, their fear was evident on their faces. "Ready to face the music and go to jail?" I asked, my smirk widening as their bravado faltered. "But you can't send us to jail, you have no proof," one of them stammered, desperation seeping into his voice. "Oh, can't I?" I replied, my tone dripping with menace. "You'd be surprised what I can do with the right evidence." "You're bluffing!" The youngest huffed and I just grinned. With a predatory gleam in my eyes, I walked closer to the trio and they moved till their backs were pressed against the wall. "You think you can manipulate your way out of this?" I hissed, my voice low and dangerous. "You're not dealing with amateurs here. You're dealing with me." I watched as fear crept into their eyes, their bravado crumbling under the weight of my gaze. "You've underestimated me for the last time," I continued, each word dripping with venom. "You thought you could play me like a fool, but now, you'll pay the price." I scrunch my nose as I scent their fear, my wolf might not be active again but I still have my developed sharp senses, their chest was heaving hard as they looked at me. They were trapped, cornered, with nowhere to run. "And as for your little game of bribery and corruption," I sneered, leaning in until our faces were inches apart. "Consider it game over." "Go tell whoever sent you that you lose and you shall always lose. Get out of my office and get your lawyers ready, I have so many charges to press against you that would keep you trio in prison for a very long time." I moved away from them with a chilling smirk as I enjoyed seeing them in fear, "Good day gentlemen and remember this: in my world, I always win.”
