Ashton's POV.
I looked around, assessing the situation, there were just six of them. The gunmen were focused on Kira, giving me a moment to plan, they came for Kira and I guess whoever sent them informed them that they have no cause to worry about anyone saving Kira... I wonder where her trusted men were.
"Go on, do your job, you must be eager to see me lying in my pool of blood. Where did you want the bullet, in my heart or straight into my brain?" She asked and I just watched her in awe.
"What the f**k are you doing?" I found myself asking.
She glanced at me briefly, her eyes shooting daggers at me. "Stay out of this, Ashton. It's not your fight."
The leader barked out a laugh. "You hear that pretty boy, stay out of it or I would add you to my list of who would die here today. She doesn't want your help so don't try to play the hero."
The tension in the room was high and I tried to think of how to handle the situation.
"You're a pretty one, wish I can bang you before I end your miserable life." The leader said but no one made a sound except Kira who chuckled.
"I don't mind getting fu.cked, it's a sweet way to die." She grinned and when I looked at the man, it looked like he was considering the option.
"Boss, finish her and let's go! We were told not to take her for granted." One of his men said and the boss nodded and c****d his gun.
"Think of happy thoughts, b***h! Cause I'm gonna design your beautiful body with my bullets." The leader grinned.
Kira chuckled, stood up slowly, her movements deliberate, controlled and measured. "You have no idea who you’re dealing with."
"Sit down!" The man ordered but without warning, Kira lunged forward, disarming the leader with a swift, practiced move. The gun clattered to the floor as chaos erupted everywhere. I sprang into action, tackling one of the gunmen to the ground.
The other family members screamed and ducked under the table. The remaining gunmen opened fire, bullets whizzing past us. Kira moved like a predator, using her assailant as a shield and quickly taking down another gunman with precise, deadly efficiency.
I managed to wrestle the gun from the man I held down, firing at another attacker who was aiming at Kira. "Behind you!" I shouted.
Kira spun around, delivering a kick that sent the last gunman crashing into the wall. The room fell silent except for the heavy breathing and the groans of the subdued attackers.
Kira stood over the conscious gunman, the leader's body wasn't in good shape because she had used him to serve as her shield, placing her foot on his chest. "Who sent you?" she demanded.
He coughed, blood trickling from his mouth. "You'll find out soon enough," he spat, defiance still in his eyes.
She pressed harder, her expression a mask of fury. "Tell me!"
He grinned, his teeth stained red. "Go to hell."
Kira's face hardened, “I Am Hell.” and with that she lifted her foot, bringing it down with a final, brutal stomp on his face, knocking the man unconscious immediately. That was one powerful kick.
"Where the hell are those useless guards?! Someone call them, or I'll kill someone!" she bellowed, her voice resonating through the room. Some of the family members hurried off to carry out her order.
The room was still again. Raising my fist, I knocked the man under me unconscious. I stood up, wiping the sweat from my brow. "Well, that was... eventful."
Kira turned to me, her eyes blazing with pure fury. "I told you to stay out of it, Ashton."
I shrugged, smirking. "And miss all the fun? No chance."
She shook her head, her eyes burning into mine. "You are an impossible piece of s**t!"
"And you’re a magnet for trouble," I replied. "Guess we make quite the pair." I grinned, and I heard mumbles from some of the family members, but I didn't give them a look.
"Stay away from my business, Ashton. I don't need your savings. I am my own woman."
I stepped closer, my voice dropping to a low, mocking tone. "You’re a real piece of work, Kira. But let’s be honest, you enjoyed having me around, didn’t you?"
She crossed her arms, her jaw tightening. "Don't flatter yourself. You were just a convenient tool."
I laughed, a harsh sound. "Tool, huh? Funny, because from where I’m standing, you seem to need all the help you can get."
Her eyes flashed with anger. "I don’t need anything from you."
"Really? Because it looked like you were in a pretty tight spot just now," I said, my tone dripping with sarcasm.
"I had it under control," she snapped, her voice rising.
"Sure you did," I replied, leaning in closer. "That's why you didn't mind me taking out a few of them for you."
Kira's lips pressed into a thin line. "STAY AWAY FROM ME."
Before I could respond, the guards finally rushed into the room, looking flustered and panicked. They quickly surveyed the scene, their faces pale as they took in the unconscious or dead bodies.
"What took you so long and where the f**k were you people when these hooligans got into my building?" Kira barked at them. "Secure these idiots and get them out of my sight! I want all the security guards assembled in the hall in the next two hours!"
The guards hurried to comply, dragging the unconscious/dead men out of the room. The remainingfamily members began to emerge from their hiding places, whispering among themselves, their eyes darting between Kira and me.
As the last of the attackers were hauled out, Kira turned to face me again. "Stay out of my way, Ashton. This is my house, and I run it."
I met her gaze, unflinching. "For now, you run it for now. But don’t forget, Kira... I'm not someone you can just push around."
"We'll see about that," she replied, her voice low and dangerous before she walked away from the dinning.
"You're a fool for saving her, they could have killed her once and for all but you decided to act hero, you're such a p***y, what the f**k have come over you?!" My step brother barked but I just shrugged, took the newspaper and began to head out of the place.
I don't want Kira to die such a simple death, her kind doesn't deserve such a quick kind death. I want to destroy her slowly, break her stubbornness, I want to penetrate into those walls she had built and once she's vulnerable, I would give her a punishment worse than death.
This war was far from over, this is just the beginning. And as much as I hated to admit it, part of me was looking forward to the next clash. Because for all her flaws, Kira was the most exhilarating challenge I’d ever faced... And to think she's a woman makes the whole thing fun and exciting. Breaking a woman who thinks she's tough and strong is gonna be worth it. I'm gonna play her game and I would defeat her in it.
