I’ve been strolling around every shop nearby which brought me in front of the antique and merchandise shop. I never plan to get inside, but I noticed one thing that caught my attention and I want to check it out. The door clangs as I get in.
“Oh! Welcome to my shop.” A man welcomed me with a big smile and finished rubbing the last piece of a hundred-year-old glass plate with a towel. The towel is full of dust as he puts it aside.
I roam to every astounding antique in this shop. There are huge utensils hung in corners and paintings on the wall. I also see an odd thing and hold it trying to trace its figure. I don’t know what it is called. “These really are from different parts of the world. Are you a traveler?”
I see another stuff next to it which is more astonishing. I just tuck my hands in my back pocket to stop me from holding it and have a little turn without dropping a glimpse on it.
“That is a Cryptex, used in the movie.” The man said after noticing me holding that thing earlier.
“Oh.” I simply said, cutting his interest to tell me about it. I’m not interested. He just smirks at me and goes to the counter with another customer. This shop is big and quiet, and rarely has customers.
“A fragile treasure chest with a hidden message. You can only enter the correct digits once on that Cryptex, if wrong, the code the glass vessel broke, dissolved papyrus scroll rolled in it, and lost the hid-den me-s-sage forever.” I heard another voice in the room explaining. When I just turned around, it was the guy from before. I barely recognize him because of the hat he tried on. Is he following me? He stuttered a little when I raised an eyebrow and sneered. Where did he even come from?
“I’m not interested in what you are talking about. Shut the hell up.” I grab the music box I’ve been watching, next to the Cryptex while giving him a cranky smile, placing the hat back to Roosevelt’s mannequin.
I’m tracing every inch of the box as I’ve never seen like this before. The structure and design are fascinating, and it is just a hand carry. I open it and the music starts playing as the ballerina statue keeps turning. It’s pretty.
“It’s pretty.” He said.
“Are you following me?”
“You know it is based on Swan Lake.” He ignores my question as expected. I have known this will come. Guys are totally the same, get that on experience.
“Tchaikovsky. I know that.” I said as I closed the box, and the music’s off. I put it back next to the cryptex. “You know what, I like it when you stop talking. Leave me alone!” He is creepy as hell.
“Oh, Mr. Tall Guy is hitting this young lady?” Said the man behind the counter teasingly, but I ignored him. “Puppy love is always the craziest.”
“Actually. I need to be hit by a part-time job right now. Why not offer me that?” I squinted trying to persuade him with my play. I need a job right now. So please, buy it. This shop is easy to handle.
“Nice try, young lady, but my shop is fine under my control.” I grit my teeth and step back to the exit. He laughs a little and at least, he gives me a little tip. “I heard that the flower shop on the next four blocks is hiring part-time.”
“Sure,” I never usually say this but, “thanks.” I took a chance to glimpse the guy. I saw him smile weakly as I left the shop. Stupid.
