I was effortlessly swirling my favorite silver dagger, any moment to drop it. My mum gave it to me when I was seven. As an ex-officer, she said that this might be helpful for self-defense if I encounter bad people. But, I guess, bad people are within me already. Every day, or maybe, I am.
A knock from the door of my trailer rang my head to release the dagger hitting the bull’s eye of a dart that is placed behind the door. Bull’s eye. It slapped me with the unpaid bills and dues, especially, for this trailer I didn’t pay for the past two months. I know who’s visiting.
“Hi, Becka! Good to see you.” The stupidest lie I ever told after I opened the door, faking a smile. I was not very surprised by Becka's current mood. She enters the truck after a long and raging gaze without a word. “I really don’t have money right now just give me until… a week!” I said, gulping while seeing her who’d been roaming around the whole truck.
“This trailer is comfortable.” A familiar voice just rang in my head, provoking my sanity. “I like to rent this truck right now.”
“WHAT?” My instant objection. I looked at the guy who’s about to enter the truck and headed to stop him. I was too close to him that I can even smell his old familiar scent. His plain white shirt is wet from a quick run that shaped his muscles. “You! Are you kidding me?” I cried, piercing my eyes to him and then to the owner, “Becka!”
“I have clients and they will be renting four trailers. If you can’t pay me by next week, you better pack your things as soon a possible.” She said, I already anticipated it. People are coming because of the upcoming winter festival.
The guy just smirked. His head almost hit the ceiling of the truck as he entered as if it was his home, I can’t stop him this time. I just pierced my gaze at him whose eyes were roaming around the whole truck. He is certainly a tall guy. He noticed the dartboard behind the door and was about to touch it. “Don’t touch that!” I said, pull the dagger from the bull’s eye and keep it. “Becka, this guy doesn’t want this trailer. This is even the smallest trailer! He’s just-” I looked at him, my eyes widened when he was already on the couch.
An instant, I took the empty cups and wrappers on the table. He laughs like a little kid at me, embarrassed by the mess I haven’t cleaned for three days. “This is trespassing. I can’t believe this!” I muttered and went outside to throw the trash out in a jiff.
“GREAT.” An endless muttering when I saw my trash bin was full, and I missed the truck that collects non-biodegradable and recyclables. I just threw the biodegradable waste in the large pit nearby, and I cried. “I hate my life!”
When I came back, Becka was already standing outside the truck, crossing her arms. She is only waiting for me to come back. “Can you at least find a job!” She sighed audibly and gave me a poster.
“What’s this?” I asked, but my attention shifted to that guy. Is he still on my couch? The audacity. I peeked in the door to see but he already left.
“I won’t give you another extension, Trevy.” Becka didn’t even answer me but headed off. I turned my attention to the poster and read. I laughed when I saw the new cafe opening called Wendy's that says “Hiring.” Little did I know, she doesn’t really want me to be kicked out of the trailer.
“Wait! Becka, it is the new cafe in town?” I called out of her but she shrugged and smirked in reply which excited me a little. I heard their espresso is the best.
Getting dressed with the normal plain white shirt and black skinny pants, and having my favorite boots on, I am going to Wendy’s.
