PROLOGUE

345 Words
A 26 year old woman was sitting in the living room, a dim red light hovering above her head. In her right hand was a glass of red wine and her left held the remote. Her legs were crossed on each other as she sipped her wine slowly. There was knock on the door. She dropped her wine on the table. "Who's there?" she asked, but there was no reply. Curious that no one answered, she stood up. She opened the door and peered outside. There was no one there. Could her neighbors be playing a trick on her again? She strolled back into the living room. She wanted to sit down but then, someone banged the door loudly. "Goddammit" she muttered as she went back to check. She opened the door angrily but no one was there. "Do you think this is some kind of joke" she yelled. She moved further outside to see if the person toying with her was lurking around. No one was in sight. It was awfully silent. She went back into the house, slamming the door angrily. She grabbed her glass of wine and slowly made to sit on the couch. She felt a strange movement behind her and she turned sharply. "Is anyone there?" she asked. She dropped her glass of wine on the table and stood up. A door creaked upstairs, making a long hissing sound. She took the stairs, her eyes darting towards the direction of the door. No one was there. She strolled into the room. It was her daughters' room. She made sure the door was locked. She couldn't explain how it got opened. Some how frightened, she turned to leave the room but something grabbed her neck. "Let me go" she muffled, trying to free herself. The unknown person pushed her forcefully across the room. She hit her head against her children's closet. She groaned in pain. The unknown person strode towards her with a knife. "Please, please, don't kill me" she begged. Without any feeling, the person stabbed her in the heart.
