Chapter 2

1017 Words
Climbing onto my bed I curl up while thoughts of what just happened replay in my head. I cannot get past the fact that Alpha Dante nearly marked me. He must be drunk. Dismissing his behavior as him being drunk I roll over and pass out. I feel the bed dip at some point during the night, but I’m almost certain I’m dreaming when this happens so I roll over and go back to sleep. I slept fairly soundly the rest of the night, rivaling the best sleep ever at this point. I can feel the sunlight dancing on my skin from the window when I realize that I’ve overslept. I’m panicking and rolling over. I feel my hand land on someone. Mortified, I look slowly to my left and there he is asleep. s**t. s**t. s**t. Quickly pulling my hand from him in hopes he didn't stir awake I hissed silently. That means when I felt the bed dip last night it was him crawling into my bed. My room is my sanctuary and he just barged in with no permission. Standing up, I stared at the man in my bed. I need coffee for this, nothing and I mean nothing could prepare me to wake up next to this man. Still, in a fair amount of disbelief, I head down to the kitchen to start coffee. “Surely I am still half asleep,” I say as I try to convince myself. Pouring my cup of coffee and leaning against the counter, I slowly raised the cup up to my mouth, taking in the smell of the coffee before my first sip. Suddenly, someone clears their throat, which gathers my attention. If looks could kill, I’m sure this person would be dead. The maids know that my mornings are just a cup of coffee and silence. Mentally cursing and nearly dropping my cup when I realize it’s Dante. “Aren’t you going to offer your guest a cup?”, he says as he clears the distance between the door and me. “Or are you always this rude?” he continues as he raises an eyebrow and wraps his hand around my cup. Nearly dropping the cup that he now holds entirely. “WHAT THE f**k?! “ I hiss at him in an almost silent yell as this man stands there smirking. “I don’t take kindly to being ordered around in MY house!” I continued. “I just asked if you were going to offer your guest a cup,” he quickly replies, goddess if I could wipe that smirk off his face. “Fine keep that one,” I grumble and turn to make myself another cup. “Eden is it?” he says to me as he leans in so close that I could smell his scent. Swallowing hard, I let out a sigh and I found myself cussing internally again. I turned my head to look back over my shoulder as I was still making my coffee. “Yes?” I snapped back to his question. I can feel his eyes burning a hole in my back as he just stares at me. “And you are Dante?” I pointedly ask knowing he’s going to say yes. I see enough out of the corner of my eye to see him give me that same smirk again, I swear I am going to wipe it off his face one of these days. “Yes, yes I am,” he replies. Now entirely turned around and staring at him, I am very annoyed, “Do you understand what a morning coffee means to me?” I asked him and barely give him time to reply. “It means I get some semblance of silence before I have to go manage the pack and the business my parents left to me!” I continue to silently hiss at him letting my anger and frustration drip from my aura. Watching Dante stare at me silently, I feel almost as if he's going to laugh at how angry I am. I mean we are talking about the heartless Dante. He is the alpha that makes everyone tremble at the mention of his name. But not me, I was taught to never fear this man. Our parents were friends and he was always rude to me. I just returned his attitude and he was never fond of that. And now this asshole is in my kitchen and slept in my bed. What he does next surprises me entirely, he laughs. Ugh, his voice is so smooth and just hits all the spots. “Damnit Dante, you are an asshole!” I exclaim walking to the table. “Eden,” he says looking at me “about last night, I know you felt the sparks but you know we can’t do this. We can’t let anyone know we are mates.” I grumble, “Is this why you stayed? Worried I would run and tell everyone that the famed Dante is my mate? It’s not happening.” Unfortunately, as much as this man annoyed me, I have always been very attracted to him. From his piercing eyes, down to his physique. He is quite the ladies' man and after last night, I don’t doubt he can get around amazingly in the bedroom. “Just leave Dante,” I tell him now barely a whisper, I do not look up because I can already feel him standing in front of me. “Eden, I won’t reject you if that's what you’re worried about.” A low rumble of a growl emits from my chest and I look up at him “You are the most heartless asshole!” With a wink, he walks away and about 5 minutes later I can hear my front door opening and shutting. Still holding my cup of coffee in my left hand, I lean onto the kitchen table from my chair and pinch the bridge of my nose. Goddess I hate this man but I cannot seem to leave him.
