Nina shot Madison an icy glare. However, before she could respond, a sudden jolt of pain shot through her knee as she was kicked from behind. Cold beads of sweat formed on her forehead, and her lips pressed together in a tight line as she fought to regain her composure. The sound of her knees knocking on the floor was loud, and everything around her seemed to blur as the world momentarily focused on that pulsing pain. As she fell, a shadow crept over her. The sensation of fingers entwined in her hair sent a tingling shiver down her scalp. With a forceful tug, her head got yanked backward by a tight grip on her hair.
