GILDA'S POV
I held the hem of my dress in so much fear, fear of being kicked out of the house, fear of being asked to leave.
" I do know her; she runs around town hoping to get someone to lie with, that's all she is known for," he said.
It was insane. Why would he say that, all through our years of dating, I never cheated? He was the one who did, and I am the w***e? Pathetic.
" It doesn't have anything to do with me. She does a good job here, and that's it. We have other things at hand, things that I can no longer tolerate," Japheth said.
I was relieved, glad that he dismissed it before that jerk would go on and on about how many beds I had to warm before I got this job.
I cleared the table and decided to hang around the room. I hated that he was also a Williams. How come he hid such from me? I was never aware of it all these years. I felt betrayed in so many ways.
He could have helped my acting career, maybe talked to his half-brothers on my behalf, but he did nothing for me.
He watched me struggle, get humiliated and did nothing to save me.
My heart was running into a million hatred for him. I felt like tearing him apart and into so many pieces.
" Why did you call? I have a lot of things to handle. I left them to be here. It better be important," Ethan said.
He seemed not to be interested in whatever Japheth wanted to say.
" You'd mother was here to create a scene like she always does," Japheth said.
" I know that, she does that all the time. Is that the reason you called me here?" His face was filled with a disgusted shock.
" No, she talked about taking this house, which I find ridiculous and very disturbing. What does she mean by that? This house was given to me by my father, I kept things in place here and changed a lot. She can not say that to me," he said.
There was so much pain coming out of his voice, I could feel the vibration and all of the anger poured into his words.
" She is only trying to protect what belongs to her husband and her son." Ethan rolled his eyes.
He has always been like that, manipulative and does not care about how his actions affect anyone.
" Excuse me? She f*****g has her place, and you do as well. She has taken so much from me, from Seth as well. I only want to let you know that your mother won't have her way this time," he said.
" Whatever you plan to do, do not dare hurt her. I'll come for you, and you know this," he said.
I felt a hand on my shoulders. I quickly turned and saw Jane.
" I didn't know you were a w***e before now. I kept on wondering how you got this job; it makes a lot of sense right now," she said.
I only smiled; I was not in the mood to trade words with her.
" You are free to have your opinion about me. Go ahead and create more things in your head, and ask Ethan to tell you more. I believe he has so much you want to hear." I sighed and left there.
I walked to the back of the house to get some rest; I needed my head to be calm. I did not want to create a scene back there.
I sat there and silently cried my eyes out. There was no sound coming from me; they would make a mockery of me.
I was still seated there when my eyes caught something. It was Eve, the head maid, who was doing something at the back of the other house.
I stood up and walked to where she was.
" Why are you the one doing this? This should be Jane's task and not yours," I was confused seeing her there.
" You should be inside the house with Angel," she was trying to dismiss my worries.
She was trying so hard to act like what she was doing was okay.
" You should not be doing this. Why can't Jane be responsible? Why do you keep quiet and let her do whatever it is that pleases her?" I said.
I was about to leave when she held my hands.
" Do not say a word," she looked over my shoulders.
I turned and saw Jane coming. Perfect timing. There's no way I was going to listen to Eve.
" Why do you always do this? You can not respect Eve here; you shift your work to her, she says nothing, and you just continue being so hard on her. Why do you think you can bully everyone here?" I was already raising my voice at her.
The shock on her face was satisfying. I loved it.
" How dare you, Eve, tell her to mind her business. She has no idea what she is getting into," she glared at me.
Eve kept pleading with her eyes to let things be.
" What does she have against you?" I asked her.
" Nothing," she responded.
I knew it was not true. She was trying to cover something up, but I wondered why she was doing that.
Jane came closer to me.
" If you do not stay out of this, you will be like her and will definitely be sent out of this house when I am done with you," she said.
I stepped back, away from her. It seemed she knew about something so strong against Eve. That's why Eve does her bidding and can not openly condemn her actions.
I looked at Eve again. She was not ready to stand up for herself, yet she looked so weak and pressed down. I really wanted to know what Jane had against her that was so strong.
" Fine, I'll stay away," I said.
It was a lie because I wasn't planning on staying away.
