CHAPTER 10

1033 Words
GILDA'S POV The hand of the little girl refused to leave mine. And her father's eyes refused to leave me, too. I guess he was scared of the safety of his daughter, but I have no thought of doing any harm to the little girl. " I'll be on my way," Seth said. He walked to where I was and got closer to my ears. " Do not f**k this up, you won't like what I'll do to you," he whispered into my ear. Then gave me a bright smile. I was not even going to do anything bad; I just hoped he would keep to his promise and do what he promised me. I stood there, unsure of what to do, where to go, what to touch and the places to stay away from. " You are welcome to my villa, make yourself comfortable," Japheth said. I could feel the coldness in his voice and the way he spoke to me. I could tell that he was either scared or uncertain about my presence in his house. I noticed him trying to get his wheelchair to the other side and was having difficulty doing so. I let my hand slip away from Angel's hands, and I ran to help Japheth with his wheelchair. He succeeded before I could help him out with it. He looked at me, shocked that I would do such a thing. I was also shocked at why he seemed upset with me trying to help him gain balance. I see nothing wrong with that, and it baffles me. " What's the name?" He asked me. I stepped back a little as the irritation on his face increased. " Gilda," I said. " Gilda, you are to care for my daughter; that is your duty and nothing else. You and I have no business meeting. I have someone that stays with me; it is not your job to care for me, so do me a favour by staying out of my way and using that time for my daughter," he said. I scoffed. I was not expecting him to be so hard on me. Maybe a thank you would have been better than all of those lectures. " You are right, I will mind my business and do what I am here for," I said. I watched as he drove himself in his wheelchair away. I wondered why he wouldn't accept my help. Such a proud thing. I felt the little fingers on my hands again. It was Angel. " Are you hurt?" She wrote on her board. " No, darling, I'm not," I said to her. I held her hands and she led me to her room. I was so surprised that she has such a big room. She began to show me all of her toys and playthings. The door opened, and a maid walked in. The minute I looked at her face, I knew she hated me. She hated that I was here. " I do not know why they had to hire you because I was doing a good job, there was no need for a replacement, I don't see it" she said. I knew it; she could not even pretend about it. Her emotions were all over the place. " She likes me and that's something," I said. " That's nothing. I was taking good care of her. Well, I was asked to show you what she likes and the kind of ingredients to avoid when cooking for her," she said. " After you," I responded. I followed her out of the room. The house was a big one, and it seemed confusing to me. She led me to the big kitchen. There were other people there, other maids. There was an older woman there; she smiled at me, and I felt safe. " Welcome to Platinum Villa. I am Eve, the head maid," she said to me. Her smile was warm, but it did not stop me from being careful; she might just be as bad as my stepmother. " I am Gilda," I said, stretching my hands for a handshake. " Let me know if you need anything. I'm here to guide you," she said. I nodded my head before walking away from her. " This is her section, and the ingredients for her food are all here; she does not eat everything. This is her food timetable, these are the kinds of food you are to prepare for her," she handed me a food roster. I took a look at it and was amazed at how rich her food has to be. " Thank you," I said. " You should not be. I hope they get you kicked out so I can go back to my place," she whispered, rolling her eyes before walking away. I sighed. Living here is definitely going to be hard for me. Was it not better than living with Vera and my mother? I thought of what their reaction would be when they find out that I am living in this place. I thought of what they were going to do to me. The lies they were going to harbor in their hearts and tell everyone who cares to listen about how I slept with so many men to be able to get this Job. " She needs to have dinner, you should prepare that," the maid said, her voice was so hard on me. I sighed, took the knife and began to check the things she was going to eat that evening. It's not going to be so easy for me to adapt to this life, but I was going to try. " You can add this, I know it's not in the roaster, but it is something important," she said. It was a few seeds from the garden at the back of the house. I held it and looked at it. It was not among the things that I was meant to add to her food; it was also not among the things I should not add. I was confused, should I ask the head maid about it? "You should hurry," the maid said.
