CHAPTER 12

GILDA'S POV

My emotions were all over the place. How was I meant to cope? I had no idea what to do. The maids were all around me; they thought I was going to run away before Japheth came back.

" You should say a good prayer to your creator; nothing should happen to Angel. You are going to pay for it with your life," Jane said.

I hated to hear her voice; it was like torture to my soul. How was I going to stay sane without hearing her voice?

" I am trying. I am trying to clear my head. What exactly do you expect me to do in this state? I am trying so hard to think," I ended up yelling at her.

I was frustrated; there was no strength left in me.

" You dare raise your voice at me? You dare tell me to stop talking to you? Do you realize what you have done?" She said,

I paid no attention to her. She was saying a lot of things to me, and it was alone making my head hot.

I was expecting Japheth, I was. I needed someone to say something to me. I wanted to know what my fate would be; I wanted to know how I was going to get kicked out of here.

I stood up and walked to the window. I could not help staying close to the window and keeping my eyes on the gate, waiting for Japheth to drive in.

He finally drove in, my heart beat increased. I was going to be pushed out of here.

I watched as he was helped out of the car and sat in his wheelchair.

He was brought inside the house, and his face was pale. My heart sank. Was Angel dead? Was she still alive? A lot of thoughts ran through my troubled mind.

" Who prepared the food she ate?" Japheth asked.

I raised my hands as everyone's eyes fell on me.

" I did," I said.

His face was filled with so much hatred towards me.

" You? This is the first time you are cooking for my little girl, and look at the mess you created. How dare you? I know you were given details on what and what not to cook for her, how can you be so stupid and careless?" He yelled at me.

Tears began to roll down my face. How careless would I be? I was very conscious of what I was doing, the kind of food I was giving to her. How can it be?

" I have no idea what is going on, I can not say what happened, I tried to be very careful. What did the doctor say?" I asked him.

He sighed, glared at me with so much disgust.

" It was said that something was added to her food, something she should not have eaten was added to her food, and it was you who did, I know you can read, it is written there, isn't it?" He asked me.

I shook my head. What particular ingredient was he talking about?

" I checked it all, all of it. The only thing that was not some black seeds was given to me by Jane; she asked me to add it, but it was not among the things listed there." I tried to defend myself even though there was not much to do.

" What the hell was that? You could not ask?" He said.

" Jane told me about it; she was the former maid to Angel. I thought she knew better," I said.

He faced Jane.

" I have no idea what she is talking about. I did what I was meant to do: I showed her all of it. I have no idea what she is talking about," she said.

I was shocked that Jane would say that to me.

" The seeds you gave to me. You asked that I add it to the food. How can you say you have no idea about it?"

" Do not dare lie, you are telling a lie. You should tell everyone how you added some seeds to her food. Leave me out of this. I have no idea what you are talking about," she said.

This was making me go insane. This is so silly. Jane just threw me under the bus? What was I thinking? Why did I have to believe the words from her mouth? I thought she was giving me instructions.

" You caused this, you did this to me. You are the one who gave me those seeds."

" Quiet, I need you to know that I won't tolerate this. It should be the last time, or you will be out of my house. Angel is being treated, and she will be fine," he said.

He was taken to his room.

I was too shocked to say anything. I sat on the chair and just thought of how hard my life was getting.

My phone began to ring, and I looked at it, it wasn't a number that was familiar.

I decided to pick it up.

" I told you not to f**k this up, you dare try to kill my little girl after I warned you not to?" He yelled.

Seth he was the one.

" I have a lot to explain to you, and I feel I am not safe in this place; something is going on here," I tried to tell him.

" What nonsense are you talking about? What do you mean by that?" He asked.

" I'd like to come see you, maybe you can listen to me," I said.

Since Japheth would not hear me out, I needed someone who was going to listen to me.

" Fine, I'll send the time I'll be free to you," he said. He ended the call immediately.

" You should hide your face, go in and never come out," Jane said.

I turned and looked at the head maid, Eve. I expected her to say something but she wouldn't. She looked away, and it broke my heart into a million pieces. Something was wrong. Why wouldn't she say something?
