Chapter 7 The Hong Kong planetary militia came from an idea that a former colony ship captain had. Hong Kong had the crews from three such ships. Willing crewmen formed the cadre of what the militia became. Colony founders used an old Earth model created by the former Israeli and Swiss military. Military service was compulsory for all 17-year-olds. The militia itself was made up of less than 3% of the population. The rest were considered auxiliary or conscripts.
