I lay down across the seats and was asleep in minutes.
I woke up quite abruptly through people talking in excited voices. I sat up, blinking. The light had turned golden, but the bus was still moving. At the back of the bus, there was some sort of consternation caused by something on Veyada’s screen.
I got up and looked over Veyada’s shoulder. Sheydu, Deyu and Telaris sat next to him.
Thayu was pointing at little dots on what appeared to be a satellite image. “There and there.”
“What’s this?” I asked, my tongue still feeling rubbery from sleep.
“A camp, by the side of the main road.”
I could see the road, too, like a slice through a parched landscape.
“This was taken just now,” Thayu said.
“What is the source?”
“Amarru.”
I guessed that was code for my father. “Who is in the camp?
