Chapter 43
“We were moving in closer to the New Hope when something struck us. Something catastrophic had happened. Not where we were. Somewhere else. Whatever it was had sent a massive shock wave through jump space, a shock wave that bled over into real space. Our ship groaned as distances fluctuated. People screamed, fainted, threw up. It passed a few moments later. Other than the lingering shakiness no one seemed to have been hurt.
“To our surprise our ship was fine too. That made no sense, nor did the fact we were still alive and unharmed. We spent several minutes checking the ship over. The whole time we were expecting to see the New Hope disappearing into jump space, but our primary mission was still preserving our ship and the survivors we carried.
