“You survived. I should have expected that.”
Clay recognised the Cobra’s voice immediately. He checked the source of the transmission. She was on one of the capital ships, as he’d expected.
“I don’t die easily,” he replied. “Come over here in a fighter and I’ll prove it.”
“Such a disappointment. I had high hopes for you but you hadn’t the strength of character we needed. Now those you could have joined will destroy you.”
“I told you, I don’t die easily.”
“Maybe… but you will die. I have more important things to deal with now. Goodbye.”
The channel went dead. Moments later Clay heard her voice again, this time over the encrypted channel the Fangs were using.
“This one is dangerous. Very dangerous. Take no chances. Destroying him is your top priority.”
