After waiting for one or two hours, daylight finally broke. Adrian, however, felt like he had been waiting at the police station entrance for days. As soon as the staff clocked in, Adrian brought Joshua inside. When Joshua turned to follow the staff, his face wasn’t the least bit dejected—he was smiling brightly. Meanwhile, Natalie had spent the whole night without sleep, sitting on the cold floor. The room was completely sealed, like a dark cell, and she had lost all sense of time. The only thing that gave her some relief was the moment the guard opened the door, letting in a bit of air. It was the only time she felt she could finally breathe. “I didn’t know anything about my father’s actions. I want to request a lawyer.” The guard silently opened the door and looked at Natalie.
