Alex – Are you really not in the mood anymore?             He whispered while gently stroking her shoulders. Reena was trying to sleep as she was too tired from the festivities. Alex – Reena.             Reena faced Alex. Reena – What now? Alex – Can we talk some more? We barely talked earlier, plus I’m still not sleepy yet. Reena – Okay. 5 minutes. Alex – Okay. Are you open to the idea of falling for me? Reena – At the moment no. Alex – Not even in the near future. Reena – Not even close. Alex – That’s just harsh love. Reena – Eventually it might happen or it may not. Sad to say I’m stuck with you forever love. Alex – Don’t be sad love. It’s a happy day today. Reena – Yeah right coming from the guy who got hitched because of an arranged marriage. Alex – In my defense, I liked the idea when it presented to me. Reena – Good for you, but I’d have to say it’s not for everyone. Alex – Really? But why didn’t you disagree when they told you or even backed out during the preparations? Reena – Well unlike you the idea was never pitched to me. It was announced at a party for my dad. Alex – Wait so you mean to say that your dad’s birthday party that turned into our engagement party was the day you found out that we were getting married? Reena – Uhmmm. Yes. I know this was going to happen sometime soon. But I didn’t expect that they’d announce it like how they executed it and that it’d be you I’m marrying. Alex – So you didn’t peg me as a candidate for your husband? Reena – Well you were on the list, its just that your family seemed like the type that’s against arranged marriages. Alex – Well you are right on point my family doesn’t promote the idea of arranged marriages, but they did not disagree when I told them my plans. Reena – Plans?             Reena moved away from Alex and gave him a puzzled look. Alex – Yes. Plans. Reena – What do you mean? Alex – I’m the one that orchestrated this whole thing. But don’t worry there was a selection process as I am expected to take over the business, I saw marriage as an opportunity for business. So, I had my secretary list and profile all the potential future business partners. I narrowed the list down to 4 candidates. Reena – And I was your last resort? Alex – No, actually you were second on my list. Reena – Wow, should I be honored you married me? Alex – Actually now that I think about it. I think the girl you saw me with at the mall was the first on the list. That girl maxed out my card, right then and there I realized she’s bad for business. So, I stopped wooing her. Reena – So, you moved on to me? But why arrange marriage straight up and not courtship like what you did with the other girl? Alex – Actually, I had done my research on all 4 of you and the first girl I thought was easy and typical so I tried my luck with her. But it turned out that she was a spender. You placed second because I knew you and your profile said your family is inclined to fixed marriages, I was a bit skeptical though it was the most practical solution. The last 2 were the least likable in profile but they had the business to back them up. Reena – And then you went to my dad? Alex – No, I went to my dad. I pitched the idea and had him set up the meeting with your dad.             Reena stood up and went to the mini bar to get something to drink. Alex gazed at her walking around the room in her nightgown. She sat on the arm of the couch where her gown laid. Looking at it. Reena – And what did my dad say? Alex – He asked if I find you interesting. Reena – What did you say? Alex – It was a trick question. Yes or no won’t be the correct answer.             Reena walked back to the bed stood at the foot of the bed. Reena – So what did you say love?             Then she crawled up to Alex. Alex – I told him, I find you intimidating based on your accomplishments and with that I applaud him raising you to be one of the best in your field. And that I would be more than honored if he allowed me to marry you. Reena – That’s all?             Reena went to her side of the bed. Disappointed at what Alex had told her. Alex looked at Reena and went closer to her. Alex – No. I also told your dad these exact words, ‘I will not falter in front of her, as I know she likes to pick on the weak, nor will I belittle her and be a hurdle to her career. I would support her and guide her, if she let’s me as an equal. This is all I can promise you sir.’             While Alex was saying his lines, he was making his way on top of Reena. He said his word slowly and passionately. And when he ended, they are now face to face. Alex really wanted to kiss Reena at this point. Reena – Wow! My dad would really fall for that.             Reena breaking the ice, while slightly pushing Alex off of her. Alex – I told you I did my research.             Alex didn’t budge and stayed curled up to Reena’s side. Reena – Good for you. Then what happened next? Alex – He said he’d relay the message to you and that he’d set up a meeting for the families and arrangements for the wedding. Reena – That’s all? Alex – Well your dad asked me one more question before my dad and I left. Reena – And that is? Alex – I’ll leave that to your dad. Reena – Come on tell me. Please!             She snuggled closer to Alex to persuade him. Alex – Just ask your dad. I’m sure he’ll tell you about it if you asked nicely.             Reena disappointed again changed the topic. Reena – So, his birthday you thought that I already knew about us getting married? Alex – Well yes. That’s what our parents agreed when we met with your dad. Reena – You didn’t follow up or what-so-ever? Alex – Nope. I know your dad is a man of his words, so I thought he told you beforehand. Reena – I guess they know me well that even if they inform me last minute that I wouldn’t retaliate against them. Alex – Yeah, they probably intended that.     -------------- Flashback to Reena’s Dad’s birthday --------------             Reena’s parents were seated in the table up front of the stage while waiting for Reena. Cyd her brother is seated with them along with his wife. While their baby is being fed by the helper in the dressing room. Patrice – As usual your daughter is late to her own father’s birthday party. Christopher – Cut her some slack will you. She’s working and studying now she has to make time for this kind of stuff too. She’s already busy at ease. Patrice – why bother study and work when she’s getting married. She’ll eventually leave her work to take care of the family anyways. Christopher – What if she decided that she will still work. You know your child she wouldn’t want to stay at home even if she’s sick. Patrice – Still I won’t be late to my own father’s birthday. Christopher – Yeah, you won’t be late. You’d be absent and your sister would be calling me non-stop. Patrice – Christopher, we’re not talking about me. We are talking about your daughter. Christopher – See she came. Go and call the emcee to start the program. Patrice – Your excited to announce this news, aren’t you? Christopher – Who wouldn’t be? Reena never brought home a guy she dated. I already started to think that she’s not into men.             Patrice stood up to call the attention of the Emcee. Then she faced Reena signing her to proceed to the back of the stage. Patrice headed to the back stage to meet Reena and to bring her to the dressing room to help her change into a more appropriate dress. Patrice – Catarina your late! Reena – Hi Mom! I missed you too mom. Yes, I’m still alive.             Patrice pulled Reena to the dressing room to help her dress up. Patrice – good thing I brought a dress for you to wear. I knew you’d be wearing jeans to a formal party. Reena – Mom, what’s the deal they all know that I’m always on my feet as I am needed everywhere. Patrice – I know dear. Why don’t you slow down a bit? Take a breather.             As Patrice is helping Reena fit in to the dress that she brought. Reena – Mom, don’t you think this is too much? This is so Chinese of you. Patrice – Nothing is too much. We are celebrating your father’s birthday. Cooperate, will you? Reena – I know its dad’s birthday. But dad isn’t even Chinese. Patrice – Hush! Inhale!             As she zips the dress up to close it. Cyd – Mom are you guys ready? Patrice – Give us a minute Cyd. I’ll just put her hair up and we are done. Reena – Kuya! What’s going on? Why is mom so extra?             Patrice making Cyd shut his mouth. Cyd – Just follow mom and don’t ask.             Patrice fixed Reena’s hair and then they headed out of the dressing room. As soon as they were out the Emcee has just started greeting the guest and the main celebrant. They headed to their table. Reena don’t check out the guest anymore as they are the same people every year. The emcee then played an audio-visual presentation prepared for Reena’s dad by his employees. After the presentation. He called on to Reena’s dad to the stage. Christopher – I didn’t expect that there was going to be a video presentation. Ricky this is your doing isn’t it? Thanks Ricky and your team! To my guest thank you all for coming. To my family for always supporting my ventures. Patrice, honey thank you for patience.             Patrice stood up and headed up to the stage. Followed by Cyd and his wife with Sebastian their child. Reena followed after. Reena – Why are we heading to the stage? Is there a grand announcement or something? Patrice – Shhh. Christopher – To Cyd, thank you for giving me my first apo Sebastian. To many more apo’s to come.             The guest laughed. Now Reena and her family are all on stage and complete. Christopher – To Reena, my very reliable daughter that doesn’t stop achieving her goals. You’re going to be a great lawyer someday. Reena – Is Dad retiring?             She asked Cyd. While playing with Sebastian. Cyd – No. Just listen. Christopher – Today is a very special day for me. Not just because it my birthday. Because today Patrice and I are happy to announce my daughter’s engagement to Alexander Molina. Alex hijo, come to the stage join us.             Reena shocked with the news bombarded to her kept a low-key smile. She didn’t saw this coming. Alex stood up from the crowd and headed to the stage. Alex went to Reena’s side.     --------------- Hotel Room ---------------             Alex leaned in to Reena. Alex – So now can we go back to where we were earlier? Reena – Huh?             She pushed him back. Alex – Come on Reena, don’t tell me your gonna give me blue balls? Reena – Thou too shall pass. Alex – You’re such a tease. Reena – Just go to sleep Alex. It will pass.             Reena turned to her side and pulled the duvet up. Alex – Catarina! You’re my wife now. Reena – I know Alexander. Alex – So its okay for us to do this. Reena – I know Alex.             Alex frustrated that he could not get some. Alex – So why aren’t we having s*x. Reena – Because s*x without consent is rape. Do you want me to report you to the police for rape on our first night as husband and wife? Alex – You’re too intense its just s*x. We’re married.             Reena wants to stop arguing with Alex about s*x. So, she thought of changing the topic. Reena – Question, by the way you’re acting it shows that your intentions are not purely business. Alex – How do you want me to act, when you tease me like that. Reena – Like someone that is not interested. Alex – How can I not be interested? When you dress up like that? Reena – Alex we are only married on paper. We don’t need to act on these urges. Alex – Reena were adults we both have needs. Reena – I know, but is that all you need? Alex – I mean eventually we’ll need to work things out to make this marriage work. Love is an option, but not required. Reena – Well yeah, its an option, not now though. Alex – You’re going to fall for me Reena. Reena – You’re going to fall for me first love.             She teases. Alex – We’ll see about that. Reena – Go to sleep Alex. Alex – But I’m not sleepy yet. Reena – Its way passed your bedtime Alex. Go to sleep.             Alex moves to give Reena enough space to a more relaxed position. Alex – Can we talk some more. I promise I won’t bring up s*x anymore.             Reena faced Alex. Her cleavage is showing. Alex can’t help but look at her breast. They looked so soft. Reena noticed him and he moved his eyes off of her chest. Reena – I thought you wanted to talk. But it seems your eyes are fixated on something else. Alex – Why wear such clothes if you’re not gonna give me some. You’re teasing makes me want you more. Reena – I thought no more s*x topic. Alex – I’m sorry I got distracted by your breast. Never imagined they’d be like that.             Reena covered her chest with the duvet. Reena – Alex cut the crap. You told me you wanted to talk now you want to do it. Just cut to the chase and tell me what you really want.             Alex couldn’t help it and moved so that he can be on top of Reena. He kissed her forehead down to her cheeks. Petty kisses as if he was teasing her. Reena couldn’t move underneath Alex. Alex kisses her more from cheek to cheek. Only passing her lips. Alex moved on to her neck soon after, Reena felt ticklish as to what Alex is doing. It felt good in a way that it was turning her on. Alex started moving his hands to grab Reena’s hands. Upon grabbing her hands Alex pulled it up so he can position his body properly on top of her. He lifted his head from pecking Reena’s neck and looked into her eyes. Reena felt hot and her face started to get flushed. Alex noticed Reena blushing, he smirked and lowered his head so that their lips would meet.
