"Just one little bobby pin, Frank." The old man sighed staring at the pouting girl. She peered at him innocently with her hands wrapped tightly around the bars. "You know I can't do that." "Don't you want me to look pretty?" His eyes traveled over to his cart with reluctancy before slowly picking one up. "Don't let anyone catch you with it." Her lips curled into a smile grabbing it. "I'm already a prisoner Frank, what would they do if they caught me?" He mumbled stuff to himself and watched her slip it in her hair. "Just be lucky you're not in the padded room." "She should be." Kegan slowly twirled around with a heavy sigh when the old man walked away. "Oh Lukey, why must you be so dark all the time? Do you not look forward to anything in life?" "I look forward to getting a new roommate." She padded her way over to the bottom bunk he was sitting on. "Come on Lukey. You can say it a million times but you'll never mean it." He stared at her blankly. "Will you do my hair?" She peered at him innocently when he continued to stare at her. "Pretty please? You always do it so good." "Sit down." He demanded gruffly. She smiled and sat down on the floor in front of him. Luke started by taking out the two buns she already had in. "Why do you always bother that man?" Jasper questioned across from her sitting on the other top bunk. "I have to practice somehow." He hopped down and landed on the floor in front of her. She didn't have time to react before he pulled one of the bobby pins out of her hair. "Jasper, give that back." She replied calmly. "Practice for what?" "Give it back." She demanded a bit more bluntly. "You have so many as it is, why do you need another?" "Give. It. Back." She stated with clenched teeth. He played with the little thing between his fingers. "You don't even use them." "Jasper." She whispered menacingly. "Give it back." Kegan watched the pin split in two before landing on the carpeted floor silently. Jasper sat on the bed and gazed her at, waiting. Her eyes grew dilated before she let out a piercing scream. Pushing away Luke she curled herself into a ball and screamed. The twins watched her calmly, silently. As expected the usually locked door opened and two of the guards walked in. One of them crouched down in front of her. "You need to calm down or I'm going to have to take you somewhere quiet." She only screamed louder. When he went to touch her she scratched his covered arm. The two of them ignored her actions and picked her up with difficulty. She struggled and cried out the whole time they dragged her out of the room. Her screams were abruptly cut off when they closed the door again. "Taunting her gets old doesn't it?" Luke asked laying down on his back. "She's my entertainment." - Kegan slowly trudged her way back into their room when the guard opened the door. She stood there, watching them stare up at the ceiling. "I don't like your games." She whispered hoarsely. "You are my game." "I don't like your games." "You play my games." "I don't like your games!" She tried soothing out her breathing when her throat started to burn. "Go to sleep Kegan." Her fingers curled into fists as she stomped over to his bed. She climbed the ladder and glared at him. "You make me so angry Jasper. So very angry." His eyes stared at her dully. "You make me happy Kegan." He watched the fire light in her eyes. "I am not a toy you can use!" "Go to sleep." She raised her fist to hit him in the chest but he easily focused her attention on something else. "Look," He held up the new bobby pin he got from Frank. "This is yours, okay?" She stared at it intently. "Mine?" He unfolded her fist and put it in her palm. "Yours." She stared down at it. "This mine?" He wrapped her fist around it. "Yours." She let out a shaky breath and clutched onto it. "This mine. Not yours." In reply he watched her climb back down the ladder and stand in front of Luke. "Lukey?" "Hmm?" "Scoot over. You're too big." "There's two beds over there Kegan." "Jasper gonna take my hair pin." "He won't." "Jasper gonna take my hair pin." She repeated. He sighed and scooted over. It wasn't unusual for her to sleep with either one of them but not when she was like this. She laid down and curled herself on the edge of the bed so she wouldn't touch him. "You don't take my hair pin Jasper." It was silent before he replied. "Go to sleep Kegan." She closed her eyes and tried sleeping, for hours. Yet, she couldn't. "Luke?" "What?" He asked gruffly. They never slept. "I can't sleep." "Close your eyes and stop talking." "Will you tell me another story?" He didn't respond for a while before he sat up. "No more screaming." "No more screaming." He let out a heavy sigh. "There was this girl, a nerdy girl-" "Did she have glasses?" She interrupted getting comfortable. "Be quiet." He demanded and she nodded curtly. "She was at the park by herself, not a smart thing is it?" She shook her head. "These two friends saw her typing on her computer and decided to talk to her. Do you know what she did?" Kegan stared at him in anticipation. "Nu uh." "She ignored them, told them to leave her alone. That's not very nice is it?" "No." "When they didn't, she left. Got in her car and drove away." "Did they follow her?" "They most certainly did. They followed her all the way to her apartment and she was clueless the whole time." "She sounds dumb." "Not dumb, innocent." "What happened next?" His lips curled up as if reliving that very moment. "They took her." Kegan let out a gasp. "They were going to hurt her, kill her even." "Because she ignored them?" "Because they liked her." "They liked her?" "Enough to kill her." "What did they do to her?" "They let her live." He smoothed out the blanket casually. "They tortured her for months, broke her. She became as crazed as they were." "Did they kill her?" "How could they not? She was too precious to pass up." "What did they do after that?" "They let her go." "But she died." Kegan frowned in confusion. Luke ran his thumb over the crease on her forehead, calming her. "They killed her personality, who she was." "Where did she go?" "Everywhere, anywhere. She wasn't good at hiding her tracks." "She sounds messy." "She was. She never cleaned up her games." "Where is she now Lukey?" He sighed pushing her untamable hair away from her face. "She got too messy, and got caught. They locked her up somewhere she couldn't hurt anybody else or herself." "Because she was crazy?" "She was a psychopath." "I like her." Kegan stated quietly. "They did too." "What happened to them?" "That little girl caused them a lot of trouble, but, they liked her." "Enough to kill her?" "Enough to hurt her." "Where are they now?" "They got too caught up in that nerdy little girl, got messy, and got locked up." Her eyes lit up. "Did they get locked up together?" "Go to sleep Kegan." He soothed quietly and she was going to protest but saw the daring look in his eyes. "Goodnight Lukey." He only laid back down and stared up at Jasper's bunk. "Even though you make me very angry sometimes I still hope you sleep good Jasper." She didn't hear anything from him and frowned. Her face quickly changed when his arm hung down, she laced her fingers with his and he gave it a gentle squeeze. "Goodnight Kegan." - "Thank you ma'am!" Kegan chirped happily grabbing her food when it was served. The old woman gave her a small smile before sliding an extra cookie over to her. Her smile widened as she grabbed it. "Thank you." The woman nodded curtly and watched her walk over to where Jasper and Luke were sitting. "Isn't it a beautiful day?" She sighed dreamily when she sat down. Gazing out at the gloomy sky and thundering clouds her smile widened. The twins ate their food silently while Kegan talked about anything that popped into her head. "Do you want to go outside with me?" "No." "Come on Lukey. We could even play a game?" She suggested. She pouted when he paid her no attention. "Will you Jasper?" "No." "I don't have any other friends in here." She frowned. "You don't make friends with murderers." "I'm friends with you two." "We're roommates." She propped her elbows on the table and smiled seductively. "We've seen each other naked, I know we're more than friends Jasper." "We share a room." He replied dully. "Please?" He ignored her and stood up. "Are we going outside?" Kegan stood up and watched his tall figure walk outside and past the guards. "Yay!" She squealed. "You don't want to come Luke?" "No." "Fineee." She dragged out and skipped outside catching up with Jasper. "Do you want to play a game?" He asked. "Yes!" "Go talk with those guards while I go hide." "Why can't I just count while you hide?" She c****d her head to the side. He gazed around the facility with his icy blue eyes. "We're not allowed to hide in some spots. Those are the best spots." "Oh," She let out a giggle. "I'll give you two minutes, then I'm coming to find you." Jasper made her look him in the eyes. "Can you be a good girl and distract them for two full minutes?" "I can!" She nodded confidently. "Go." She turned around and skipped over to the two guards while Jasper turned around and went over to the large stone walls. He lifted his shirt up and ran a finger down from just below his heart to where his bottom rib was. He ran his hands along the walls for a moment and knocked on some certain pieces. "Found you!" Jasper looked down at Kegan who was grinning up at him. "Good girl." "Do I hide now? And you count?" "Actually, I was thinking we could play a new game." "Okay." Her eyes lit up. Jasper crouched down on the floor and he motioned for him to climb on his back. "Get on." She giggled and got on his back. "We've never played this game before." "Now raise your arms as high as you can." She did so and his jaw clenched comparing them to the height of the wall. "Can you get on my shoulders?" "What if I fall?" "You don't mind a little pain do you?" She instantly with the help of him got on his shoulder with difficulty. "Raise your arms." She did again and he let go of her shaky legs. Kegan gasped and fell from his shoulders. He caught her with ease and set her on her feet. "I thought you were really going to let me fall." She twirled around in a circle, watching the plain gray dress they gave her to wear spin. Her face fell when the bell went off signaling it was time to go back to their rooms. "They treat us like criminals." "We are." "I only killed three people." She frowned confused. "What's so wrong with that?" "Go on." He gave her a subtle push to walk inside. Jasper ran a hand through his dirty blonde hair and sighed. When the three of them were back inside their room the door got locked shut. - "What's that?" "Luke!" Kegan gasped holding her heart and covered what she was doing with a pillow. "Don't scare me like that." "Don't lie to me and say you don't like it." "Only sometimes." She justified crossing her arms. "Just like old times hm?" He asked with a taunting voice and cupped her cheek. She turned her head away from. "I don't know what you're talking about." "I used to think it was innocence." He announced. "But now I know you don't want to remember." "I don't know what you're talking about Lukey." "We had fun didn't we?" He questioned grabbing her jaw. She looked into his cold eyes. "You had fun." "Oh don't tell me you didn't like it." "You hurt me." "You liked every second of it." "You made me this way." "I love you this way." "You got me locked up." "We're locked up together." "You made me crazy." He leaned into her and gazed into her glossy eyes with a crazed look. "You make me crazy."
