Ariel's POV
My heart skipped a beat at the calmness in his voice.
Like he didn't know what those words meant to me.
I slowly stared back into his eyes, steadying myself.
“It depends on?” I asked carefully, keeping my eyes on him the whole while.
“If it puts you in danger,” he responded casually.
“And if it doesn’t?” I pressed on.
“Then I’d give you the world,” he replied warmly, like he didn't know the weight those words carried.
I studied him carefully, looking for any hint that he was lying.
But as much as he was mysterious, so was he honest.
