Orlando was now in his fifties, but didn’t look a day over thirty-five. His head was shaved bald and he wore spectacles and a suit.
As his stature in crime had grown, so had it grown in academic circles. He had now published seven books, and was recognized as America’s foremost expert on Fyodor Dostoevsky. His books included such titles as Dostoevsky and the Slavic Narrative and Dostoevsky: Correspondence. In addition, Orlando had published more than fifty pieces in such esteemed publications as Slavic Review, Russian Language Journal, and Slavic and East European Journal. He’d also penned forewords for several books on Dostoevsky, and was now working on two more books, including a definitive biography of the author.
