Doctors Visit The room felt too small for the tension rolling off Damien in waves. He hadn’t left her bedside since the fever spiked in the middle of the night. His jaw was locked, eyes dark and unyielding as the doctor examined her flushed cheeks and listened to her shallow breathing. “Her temperature isn’t coming down fast enough,” the doctor muttered, adjusting the IV drip. “We may need to—” “Fix it.” Damien’s voice was low, dangerous. He took one step closer, towering over the older man. “Now.
